Elephants, Ponies, & Clowns… OH MY!

For Hunter’s birthday one of our friends got us free tickets to the Circus… Not only just for our family, but a total of 18 tickets! So, we gathered up some friends, and family, and the 18 of us, ventured off to the Circus!

To say my kids were excited was an understatement. Hunter & Rachel had been once before but they were both fairly young… I believe something like 18 months, and 3 yrs old. Therefore, they don’t really remember it at all. Of course I have photo’s, but that is not the same.

So it was all the more exciting to have such a big group of us going this time. We arrived in time to get settled in our seats, and get some autographs from clowns. Check out some other things going on, and make a quick potty run! Our first laugh of the day?? Was the everyone with their clown noses!

008

Daddy even got in on it with us!

010

Rachel was so very excited to see what they were going to have. The show was just amazing! It was about 3 hrs long, but kept the kids pretty well captured the whole time.

Here are a couple of our favorites:

The Trapezes of course

068

The two sisters, who are in that little box! Yes grown women were flexible enough, to bend to fit in that box! It was amazing to watch.

077

And of course the kids favorite… Rosie the Elephant!

082

After we left we got some pictures of the kids in the clown planes, and they check out a camel. It was a great day, and lots of fun!

Mom, can I have a pet Dragon?

is what I was expecting to hear my son say after we got home from watching “How to Train Your Dragon”.

After an exciting day at his birthday party, and having a friend back to play with his new Lego’s… we also decided to take him to see “How to Train Your Dragon”. He has been asking to see it since it came out in the Theatre’s.

It was a very cute movie. I won’t get into many details, cause I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. It will definitely be one we buy on DVD for home when it comes out.

A must see for your young dragon trainer at home!!!

Surprise!!!!

Was what we were all screaming as Hunter walked into CiCi’s Pizza on Saturday!

I had managed to get a party planned (with some of his help) without him knowing were and when it was going to be. He thought he knew, but we through him off. It was rather cute!

I’m so excited to say it was a successful Surprise! He was a bit embarrassed I think when we all yelled Surprise at him. Opps!

015

He had 12 little friends there, and they pigged out on Pizza, cinnamon rolls, and brownies! (Can’t go wrong with an all you can eat buffet)

Then Hunter opened his presents! He got just what he wanted, more Lego’s… Totaling just a bit over 1000 pieces… Hmmm, wander how long it will take him to put them all together!!

040

045

Then we finished off the day with some cake and ice cream. He had a Lego cake this year… and might I add that was NOT easy to come by! But we found one, and it went off with a hit!

047

048

It was lots of fun, and I’m glad he loved it! Best part for mom?? I didn’t have to set up, or clean up!!! Wonderful present for me!

Still can’t believe my little man is 8!!! I hope that he has a wonderful year as being 8!

Love you buddy!!!!!

Claritin Chewable Review:

claritin-new-image

Let me just start by saying that Children’s Allergies is something I certainly know a thing or two about. I have been blessed with 3 monkey’s that have allergy issues, ranging from severe, moderate, to minor. Not sure how I got so lucky really??!!!

We have tried most over the counter, and prescription medications. With them all having their issues for them. Except for Claritin Chewables. I can give the kids one of these in the morning before school if they need one, and they don’t get drowsy.

Did you know that 4 out of 10 kids suffer from allergies and two million school days are missed due to seasonal and indoor allergies every year? That’s a lot of days missed — and that doesn’t even include all the days kids spend in an allergy fog!

Studies have shown that the effects of allergies can be significant for kids. Daytime allergy symptoms can impede focus and result in learning problems, while  nighttime allergy symptoms can result in sleep loss and lead to daytime drowsiness. How can a kid be a kid when all they can do is focus on their allergies.

Claritin is the #1 Pediatrician Recommended non-drowsy allergy brand.

Looking for more information check out Claritin on Facebook.

Free Movies for the summer??

img_freeFamilyFilmFestival

Are you looking for something fun to do over the summer, that isn’t going to break the bank??

I know that I am!! My kids get cabin fever pretty fast here in FL. It tends to be to hot out, for them to really want to get out and play to much. Therefore, I am trying to always come up with some ideas for the summer. To keep us going and not get to bored.

Well one idea that we like is that Regal Cinema’s offer FREE movies on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings at 10am. They are not new releases, but good movies just the same. Just go HERE and put in the state you live in, and it will show you each cinema’s schedule for the summer. I see a few weeks we will be enjoying a visit to the movies.

I’m always looking for fun, free or inexpensive ideas for the summer. So if you have any to share please do!!!

Enjoy!

Is a project that was started by a mom who was dying mom. As a way to leave something behind to her four daughters. Annette sent a c.d. of she and her daughters singing to her many friends and family. Unbeknown to Annette, her act of love would be the inspiration for her friend, Cristina Carlino, founder of Project Miracle, to ignite the She Colors My Day movement - a celebration of the never-ending bonds of mothers and daughters. How touching is that?? So many people think they can’t make a difference, but all they have to do is try and amazing things come of it!

Would you like to help spread the word? If you are a member of Facebook, you can send a pink crayon app around to help spread the word. No surprise here…

Sage had a Eye Doctor Appointment yesterday and as I figured she needed glasses.

The appointment was very eventful… she didn’t want to cooperate very well with some of the things. She hated the machine that puffs air into her eyes. Then she also was freaked out about getting drops in her eyes. We didn’t want to traumatize her so we decided to skip the drops this time around.

Sage at Eye Doc

She was a pretty good trooper for the most part. After we got her to calm down… and got her to focus, she started to cooperate. After looking at a few pictures… we came to the conclusion that she has a lazy eye. (not really shocking since I have one as well, and so does one of her cousins) She really struggles to see out of her right eye.

Therefore, her wish to have glasses was granted. Yes, as crazy as it sounds, she has wanted glasses. Could have something to do with the fact that everyone in our house wears glasses. We popped the lenses out of her old sunglasses so she could wear them around the house as her own glasses. That is how obsessed she was. Crazy I say!!! Lets see how long it lasts now that we have the real thing!!!

After looking at yup a total of two pairs, she had her mind set on a pink pair! Our eye doctors does the glasses in a few hours right on the spot. Sage was beyond excited, so waiting was torture!!! She asked me every ten seconds if it was time to go back and get them. Oh my!!

Finally it was time… and she sat so well to have them fitted… I was so proud of her! Here she is with her cute little glasses! My gorgeous girl!

Hunter turns 8….

and yes that is me whimpering in the background, that you here… I mean really how can my baby be 8??? The time has just flown by. I’m sad, but he is such an amazing little boy/young man. He is so smart!

Some of the highlights from his 7th year…

  • He lost 3 more teeth
  • reading at 3-4 grade reading level
  • becoming an encyclopedia… you want to know something ask him!!! :)
  • learning to hit the ball harder

Hard to believe he is now 8 ending the 2nd grade. I’m looking forward to seeing what the 8th year of his life will bring me. He is such a pleasure to have and be around… and I thank god everyday for blessing me with such an amazing boy!

Here are some pictures from his birthday.. It was just a small thing, with cake, and a couple presents. As he is having another party on Saturday. It is a surprise party, (shhh… he doesn’t know) with his friends. More for that to come!

Forget Me Not By Vicki Hinze Blog Tour:

Forget me not Book cover

My Thoughts:

This book looked really good to me, when I got it. However, as I started it.. it was a bit confusing. Until you get into the book a ways does it come together. Overall I thought it was a pretty good book. I enjoyed it once I figured it out.

About the Book:

THEIR ELUSIVE ENEMIES TOOK EVERYTHING.  NOW THEY WANT MORE.
Crossroads Crisis Center owner Benjamin Brandt was a content man—in his faith, his work, and his family.  Then in a flash, everything he loved was snatched away.  His wife and son were murdered, and grief-stricken Ben lost faith.  Determination to find their killers keeps him going, but after three years of dead ends and torment, his hope is dying too.  Why had he survived?  He’d failed to protect his family.
Now, a mysterious woman appears at Crossroads seeking answers and help—a victim who eerily resembles Ben’s deceased wife, Susan.  A woman robbed of her identity, her life, of everything except her faith—and Susan’s necklace.
The connections between the two women mount, exceeding coincidence, and to keep the truth hidden, someone is willing to kill.  Finding out who and why turns Ben and the mystery woman’s situation from dangerous to deadly.  Their only hope for survival is to work together, trust each other, and face whatever they discover head on, no matter how painful. But will that be enough to save their lives and heal their tattered hearts?

This Little Prayer of Mine by Anthony DeStefano Blog Tour:

This little prayer of mine book cover

About this Book:

I know you're up in heaven, God,
and can hear my voice from there.
I'm just a little child.
Will you answer my short prayer?

So begins this delightful book that affirms God's readiness to answer our prayers, no matter what our age.
With engaging rhymes and beautiful illustrations, This Little Prayer of Mine assures children that God is always near--watching, listening, caring, and eager to respond to their requests. They'll also learn that prayer isn't just about asking for things, but about sharing their feelings of sadness and uncertainty as well as of thanksgiving and joy.
Most importantly, This Little Prayer of Mine reminds children—and those who love them—that they can trust God to tenderly care for them, no matter what the future holds.

About the Author:

Anthony DeStefano has received may prestigious awards from religious organizations throughout the world for his efforts to advance Christian beliefs in modern culture. These include an honorary doctorate from the National Clergy Council and the Methodist Episcopal Church's Joint Academic Commission, as well as the "Defender of Israel" medal from the Jerusalem Center for Peace Studies, conferred on him in 2003. He is the CEO of a Catholic not-for-profit organization; he lives in Long Island with his wife, Kimberly, a kindergarten teacher.

Our Thoughts:

My kids really liked this book. It was very cute. Hunter could read it himself, and he really enjoyed it. Then he liked reading it to his sisters. The pictures are very well done. I love how it really just sounds like something a kid would say to God. I think this will be a book my kids read often.

A brave boy…..

During vacation, Hunter needed to go have another round of Allergy testing done. After having his Tonsils, and Adenoids out we wanted to make sure everything else was set, so we can finally just get over this allergy issue.

He was a bit apprehensive cause he new this meant some needles were to be involved, and he is not a needle guy. The Allergist called and had a cream sent to my pharmacist for me. Told me to apply generously and wrap him in plastic wrap! So yup, that is what we did. It was funny!

034

Once we got there he started to get more nervous, until he realized he couldn’t feel his arms. The cream was a numbing cream. He got his first 32 without any issues… and then it came time for his last 31. Those had to be put in with a needle… he was a bit scared, but once she showed him it didn’t hurt he was good to go. He sat there so good, watching her put them in, reading what they were for.

244

Come to find out he does not have any allergies to the 63 we did. I was a bit disappointed (just cause it would be nice to have answers) but happy that this was again behind us.

My little man was very brave! I was so proud of him! Good job!!

What does a little sun, and fun look like??

After some cold days this winter, and some rainy weather we welcomed this lovely warm weather with open arms!

There was no sitting in the house for us… we decided to take the kids out and get some fresh air. We headed out to play some mini golf.

Now yes this was a bit of a challenge..since Hunter had only played once, at like age 3, and the other two had never played. However, let me tell you they were pretty darn good. Sage had a bit of trouble grasping the concept at first. Yet, she enjoyed it.

I think at some point all of us ended up getting a hole in one! We even won 3 free games! So, you can rest assured we will be going back for another afternoon of fun!

Here are a few shots of our crazy 36 hole game of fun!

Fresh new do, for the summer….

After a few months of debating.. we decided it was time to cut Rachel’s hair. She has very thick hair like mine, and lately. No matter what shampoo I was using for her, cheap, expensive or in between, it was just blah. The back was all tangley all the time, and it was all split ends.

I love her long hair, so honestly it was probably more of an issue for me to cut it than her. She was very excited for her new look.  I was apprehensive but decided to be excited for her too.

Here it is the start.. no looking back now!!

240

241

Finished look! Here is the new Rachel!

242

She loves it.. and so do I! Much easier for her to take care of, and cooler for her this summer.

My beautiful girl!

Happy Easter!!!

From our family to yours!!!

045

Hope everyone had a great Easter! I know our weekend was full of fun. Still not the same as being back with our family up north. However, we are finding our way with new friends and family.

We started our weekend out with watching movies on Friday night. Since a few of us (mainly me) were still sick, and just not feeling up to par. Then on Saturday we headed to a local church here in our town, that puts on great events for the kids throughout the year.

The kids were able to participate in an Egg Hunt, play in some bounce houses, play games, eat popcorn, and snow cones! Great fun!
