Rainbow Bright Cd Review & Giveaway:

I recently got the opportunity to play with a Rainbow Brite Cd that was sent to me by MomSelect.
Rainbow Bright
Do you remember Rainbow Brite when you were a child?? I remember playing with her, but couldn’t remember the names of the characters. When I gathered my girls to see this cd, they asked me who Rainbow Bright was. I told them it was a doll I once played with when I was a child, and they were excited to share that with me.

I still can’t get over the fact that all of these characters from my childhood are making such a big come back! I’m so excited to have that to share with my children.

The CD includes games, activities, and coloring pages for the kids to do. It is a great thing to pass some time on a rainy day, or when they are just bored some afternoon.

They graciously provided me with 9 more Cd’s to give away…  So on March 7th @ 10pm EST… I will pick 9 winners by Random.org
The winners will have 48 hrs to email me back, or I will chose new ones.

OPEN TO US RESIDENTS ONLY
To Enter: Leave me a comment telling me if you watched Saturday morning cartoons as a kid, and who your favorite character was. (Mandatory to enter)

Value Fiction Blog Tour:

This time, we got a grab bag… So until they showed up at my door, I was not aware of what i would be reading.

The first book I read was Beneath a Southern Sky by Deborah Raney. I had never read any of her books.

Book Cover Beneath the sky

It was a bit hard for me to get into this book at the beginning of it. Then it started to get more interesting for me. I really like the characters in this book. It is really about how to move on with your life after losing part of yourself.

About this book:

Her Second Husband Healed the Sorrow of a Tragic Loss.
Her First Has Just Returned from the Dead.
Which Man Has the Right to Claim Daria’s Heart?

After two years of serving as a missionary in a remote area of South America, Daria Camfield has returned to the States to mourn her husband, reportedly killed while providing medical aid to a neighboring Colombian village.

At first, Daria finds comfort only in the daughter born to her after Nate’s tragic death. As she begins to heal, she also finds a listening ear and a tender heart in her new boss, veterinarian Colson Hunter. Determined to move forward with life, Daria ignores the still small voice calling her to wait and accepts Cole’s marriage proposal. But after the wedding, Daria’s new dream life turns into a nightmare with the arrival of an unbelievable telegram: “Nathan Camfield found alive. Flying into K.C. Int’l. via Bogota…”

Now two men have the right to her daughter, her life, and her love. Will Daria return to her beloved first husband, abandoning Cole? Or will she reject Nate and choose the only man her daughter has ever called “Daddy”--a man she has come to cherish with all her heart?

About the Author:

DEBORAH RANEY is at work on her 20th novel. Her books have won the RITA Award, HOLT Medallion, National Readers' Choice Award, Silver Angel, and have twice been Christy Award finalists. Her first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title. Deb and her husband, Ken Raney, enjoy small-town life in Kansas. They are new empty nesters with four grown children and two grandsons, all of whom live much too far away.

You can buy a copy HERE.

The second book I got was Secrets by Robin Jones Gunn. I had never read any of her books either. I am always excited to read a new author though, cause you never know what kind of possibilities it will open up for you.

Book Cover Secrets

I was able to get into this book a bit quicker.. and I really enjoyed the storyline. I think this was my favorite of the two.

About the book:

The Glenbrooke Series

Jessica ran from her past...but can she hide from love?
Jessica Morgan wants desperately to forget the past and begin a new life. She chooses a small, peaceful town tucked away in Oregon’s Willamette Valley as the place to start over—Glenbrooke. Once there, Jessica conceals her identity from the intriguing personalities she meets—including the compassionate paramedic who desires to protect her and the jealous woman who wants nothing more than to destroy her.

Will Jessica’s deceit ruin all hope for the future? Or will she find a deeper peace that allows her to stop hiding the truth from those who love her most of all?

This heartwarming bestseller, book one in the Glenbrooke series, introduces the fascinating people of Glenbrooke in a compelling tale of romance and spiritual truth.

    About the Author:

Robin Jones Gunn is the much-loved award-winning author of the Glenbrooke, Sisterchicks(R), Christy Miller, and Sierra Jensen series, with more than three million books sold worldwide. Robin lives with her family near Portland, Oregon.

    My brave man….

was so good yesterday. He went in to have his Tonsils & Adenoids out, and another set of tubes put in his ears. This is the 4th set of tubes he has had put in, so really he is kinda a pro at this! This time though you could see the slight hesitation in him… he wasn’t sure what to expect from the removal of his tonsils, and adenoids.

I was proud of him for going in with a good attitude, and being so chipper, despite the fact he was scared, and starving!

    Surgery coloring book

The nurses were great again, they remembered us from Sage’s surgery back in September which you can read about HERE. Matter of fact as I write this, they just called to check on him. :)

Sage was an amazing trooper too… As she had to sit and be good for 6hrs, while we waited for him to go into surgery and come out and be released. They keep them for 4hrs after surgery to make sure they wake up ok, and start to eat, or drink.

Brave boy before having Tonsils, Adenoids out

Hunter woke up ok, but was in a lot of pain, so to clam him down they gave him some pain meds, that made him sleep again. Once those kicked in we were able to get him to eat a popicle. Plus when he got home he ate some Jello, pudding, and ice cream. So he is already doing better than Sage in that aspect.

Waiting for the doctor at Sage's appt

He is out of school for a week or so. We have all his work though, so we will have it done, and ready for his return. I’m very proud of how brave he is being… Even in pain, he does pretty good!

    Get better soon buddy!!!

    Baseball Begins…..

and the schedule gets crazier!! Hunter has decided that he wants to play Baseball again this year. He loves it. I made a deal with him, that if he really wants to play and promised to try hard, and do his school work.. I would sign him up. So here we are...

It looks to be a very promising baseball season. We have very good coaches and he could learn so much from them. I think, he is really going to improve in many areas this year.

Here are some of the shots we have from our first few practices.

Hear No Evil Blog Tour by Matthew Paul Turner:

    download

    About the Book:
If you’ve ever had the opening bars of a song transport you back in time or remind you of a pivotal spiritual moment, Matthew Paul Turner’s honest—and frequently hilarious—musings will strike a chord. Straightforward and amusing, Hear No Evil is Turner’s “life soundtrack,” a compilation of engaging personal stories about how music—and music’s ability to transform—has played a key role in his spiritual life.
Groove along on his journey as young evangelical Turner attends forbidden contemporary Christian concerts, moves to “Music City” Nashville, and dreams of becoming the Michael Jackson of Christian music.
Cosmic and compelling, keen and funny, every page is a new encounter with the people, places, and experiences that have taught the music-editor-turned-author some new things about God, forced him out of his comfort zone, and introduced him to a fresh view of grace along the way.

    About the Author:
Matthew Paul Turner is a blogger, speaker and author of The Coffeehouse Gospel, Provocative Faith, Beatitude: Relearning Jesus, the What You Didn’t Learn from Your Parents About… series, and several other popular books. He has written for Relevant, HomeLife, Christian Single magazines and was the former editor of CCM magazine. Matthew and his wife, Jessica, live in Nashville, Tennessee. He can be found online at www.matthewpaulturner.com.

    My Thoughts:
Honestly I was not sure what to except from this book. I was not entirely sure I would like it. It was a nice read though, and I loved that it had me laughing in spots. Nothing like a good book that gets you laughing. (especially when you are in a doctors office and everyone stares at you) It is a fairly quick read as well. I was able to finish it after a couple time of waiting at appointments. I have always found music to play a big role in my life. So it was nice to hear someone else feel the same. Do you ever feel like music is talking to you?

    My baby turns 5………

Oh where, oh where has the time gone??

I can’t believe that it has been 5 yrs since my baby was born. Gorgeous from the moment I laid eyes on her….

She is such an amazing child. I am so blessed to have her. (and my other kids) She just makes everyday so cheery.

    Sage

Sage wakes up with a smile on her face every morning and that is how she stays all day. Very rarely is she grumpy, or stays grumpy for long.

A smart cookie she is… she can now tell you the alphabet, and write most of them, writes her name, knows her numbers and how to write most of them. She loves to tell stories, and listen to you read. Plays so good on her own. Asks you questions that you have to think about to answer, but loves to know the answer. Can tie her shoes all on her own. She loves to dance, sing, and just laugh!

We are so proud of you baby girl, and are so lucky to have you!!!!

    Happy BIRTHDAY!

3 Little Giggles Hair Accessories Review & Giveaway:

    3 little giggles

When Brandy contacted me to do a review for her, I was beyond excited. I looked over her site, and was very eager to get her product.
    About the Owner:
I’m Brandy and I’m a mom living in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. I began 3 Little Giggles out of sheer frustration of not being able to find the perfect hair accessory for my own 3 little girls. As a mom, I take pride in my daughters’ appearance and I love them to have that “finished” look. Since I was having such a hard time finding cute and unique hair bows, I decided to start creating my own bows, clips and headbands for them. As word spread, I was approached to design and create cheering bows for our area football and wrestling cheer associations and then finally at the urging of a great friend and mentor I opened up my shop on Etsy.com. It is keeping me busy and I love it.
I am always coming up with new designs. I love having an outlet for my creative side and it is just the right fit for me, my family and our lifestyle. I hope you enjoy my creations, I certainly enjoy making them.

    Our Thoughts:
She does such an amazing job. These bows are so adorable! Best part is… How many times have you wanted a bow for your daughter to match her outfit, but couldn’t find one?? She has such a wide range of colors to choose from. My girls just fell in love with them! Another great feature is that they have non-slip grips to them…I can’t tell you how many times my girls have lost a bow or pony cause they fall out. Specially with my youngest and her very fine hair! Not an issue with these!!

    030

    Buy them here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/3littlegiggles

Or you can Win 3 bows!!!

3 Little Giggles as Generously offered one of my readers 3 bows of their choice!

    Update:

Just wanted to let you all know… that I made it through my first full week at the gym. I am very proud of myself.

On average I have managed to do about 1.7- 2 miles on the treadmill. Then another 1-2 miles on the bike. Plus doing some leg exercises.

I have not weighed myself, since the beginning of me going. Part of me is afraid to, so I am waiting until the end of my second week. I’ll let you know, if you are interested.

I thank you all for your support! It has helped me so much! As well as my friend going with me everyday!

    Thanks again!!!!

Love & War by John & Stasi Eldredge Book Blog Tour:

    download (1)

    About the Book:

What the Eldredge bestsellers Wild at Heart did for men, and Captivating did for women, LOVE & WAR will do for married couples everywhere. John and Stasi Eldredge have contributed the quintessential works on Christian spirituality through the experience of men and the experience of women and now they turn their focus to the incredible dynamic between those two forces.
With refreshing openness that will grab readers from the first page, the Eldredges candidly discuss their own marriage and the insights they’ve gained from the challenges they faced. Each talks independently to the reader about what they’ve learned, giving their guidance personal immediacy and a balance between the male and female perspectives that has been absent from all previous books on this topic.   They begin LOVE & WAR with an obvious but necessary acknowledgement:  Marriage is fabulously hard.  They advise that the sooner we get the shame and confusion off our backs, the sooner we'll find our way through.
LOVE & WAR shows couples how to fight for their love and happiness, calling men and women to step into the great adventure God has waiting for them together. Walking alongside John and Stasi Eldredge, every couple can discover how their individual journeys are growing into a story of meaning much greater than anything they could do or be on their own.

    About the Author:

JOHN ELDREDGE is the founder and director of Ransomed Heart Ministries in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a fellowship devoted to helping people discover the heart of God. John is the author of numerous books, including Epic, Waking the Dead, Wild at Heart, and Desire, and coauthor of Captivating and The Sacred Romance.

STASI ELDREDGE, who is passionate about mentoring women in finding their true identity as the beloved of Christ, has been leading women's Bible studies for years. With a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and formerly on staff with Youth for Christ, Stasi now leads the women's ministry of Ransomed….

    My thoughts:

I found this book completely intriguing. I wasn’t really sure what to think as usually these sort of books bore me.

This book is full of helpful information, and funny stories of their own lives. Which makes it more real, and its not just you kind of thinking.

Absolutely a great book for you to read around Valentine’s Day. I would suggest picking up a copy!

    Buy it today!!

    Blue & Gold Banquet

This is the combination of the Birthday of the Boy Scouts, and the time when we try to have most of our big achievements done, and the boys will get their rank badges.

I have to admit this year was a bit of a challenge for me in this area. Why?? Well, I took over as the official leader of our Den back in November. Leaving me with only 3 months to get our boys their Wolf Badges. With almost 3 weeks of that being vacation times, so we don’t meet. Talk about a challenge!! Its ok, I was up for it!

I am proud to say that all but one of my boys managed to get their Wolf Badge at Blue and Gold on Saturday night! I was so proud of them…. They worked hard, and got it done. Now for the rest of the year until May, they will work on getting electives, and extra badges. Then around the end of May they will move up to the next rank.

    055

Here is what Hunter achieved this time around:
    His Wolf Badge
    Gold Arrow Point (for electives)
7 Sliver Arrow Points (for electives)
    Bowling Belt Loop
    Nutrition Belt Loop
    Hiking Belt Loop
    Reading/Writing Belt Loop
    Leave No Trace Patch
    Outdoor Activity Award
    BSA 100 Year Patch

He has done a really good job at staying on task, and working towards more. He is a very smart little man!

He was pretty excited to get all his stuff, along with a few surprises. One of them was him getting a TROPHY for Design for the Pinewood Derby!

My legs are gonna hurt tomorrow!

After months of procrastination. I have finally done it!! I made it to the gym today and worked out. I have been trying to loose more weight since the start of the New Year, but I was really lacking the extra kick from exercise. I must tell you that does make a pretty big difference.

I wanted to get a Wii Fit Plus or the Easy Active. But I just didn’t think I would be able to hold myself accountable enough to do it everyday! That is really the hard part isn’t it??

Today started a new journey for me, and I hope it turns out to be a great one.. I’m sure it will have its struggles and its challenges…but with the right amount of determination you can over come anything!

I know your all wondering how I seem to think that I am going to make it to the gym more than if I was to do it at home. Well for one, I have a workout partner… and that in itself is going to be tremendous help! I will have someone to push me to go, and to push me to do better and work longer!

I’m excited… Today I started my first day with walking 1.7 miles on the treadmill, and then doing 1 mile on the bike. Plus a few leg exercises. Burning more than 350 calories!

Our plan is to go every other day… so not to kill ourselves. Plus we have started a 10 week challenge at the Gym. Watch out!!! I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for the encouragement!

    Our week so far:

I can’t seem to catch a break this week. I’m so, so sorry…that i have been MIA for almost two weeks. With all the stuff going on around here… I can’t seem to catch up.

We made it through the Pinewood Derby. I will be posting on that shortly. Just need to find time to upload pictures. :)

The first two days of this week were taken up with Car repair. Dropped it off Monday Morning at 8am. Sat there for 3 hrs to find out what was wrong with the AC, before they started on the rest of the stuff. I left to go to the mall (which is luckily only a mile down the road) with a friend… Had a great time, but came back at 5pm and the Car was still not DONE!!!! By this time, my daughter had already missed dance, and I was not going to make her miss Girl Scouts to, so I said I’ll be back in the morning for it.

Left in a rush to head home to pick up my daughter and get to Girl Scouts. Phew! Thank goodness for great friends that like to help you out!

Tuesday we went back to get the car, and it was down pouring! I had errands to get done though, so Sage and I had fun getting wet while doing that. Doctors appt after the kids got out of school and Cub Scouts, made that day go by quickly!

Yesterday was my MIL birthday… So my youngest daughter and I took her to lunch, and run a few more errands. Then we spend the evening with family celebrating!

Today has been a bit of a blur as well… But at least the week has flown by! I’m still waiting for a couple of packages to arrive, doesn’t look like the one I need before Saturday is going to make it. Bummer!!! Then this weekend is Blue & Gold!

You tired yet (just reading it)???

    For Today February 1st, 2010

Outside my window… its still a bit dark, with a bit of a chill in the air…. but suppose to hit the mid 70’s later.

I am thinking…. Today is going to be  a very long day. I am leaving for a car appt, in a few minutes. Then going to the mall for a bit, and when I get home, it will be time for dance, and Girl Scouts!

From my imagination….. Some skit materials for the skit my wolves are doing at the Blue and Gold Banquet this weekend. Should be cute!

I am thankful for…. The ability to provide for my family, even if we don’t always have a lot of money…. I love being FRUGAL!

From the kitchen... Left that up to the husband today. I won’t be home for dinner. Lol

I am wearing….  Shorts, and a t-shirt… and in hopes to pick a few new things at the mall today!

I am reading… Plain Pursuit by Beth Wiseman

I am hoping…. That my order gets here before the weekend, so I will have everything I need!

I am creating…. More organization again. Finally got my new Laptop I have been wanting, so I am transferring stuff and getting everything situated! I LOVE it!!!

I am hearing….. Silence, my kids are not quite up yet… Almost time to get up and get ready for school!

One of my favorite things…. Shopping without any little kids to complain about how long you take!

A few plans for the rest of the week…. Car Appt, Dance, Girl Scouts, Library, Doctor’s appt, Cub Scouts…Roundtable meeting, and Blue & Gold Banquet… Phew I’m exhausted just looking at it!

A Picture I'm sharing.....  None I haven’t added my pic’s to this computer yet… Later this week, I’ll have lots of pictures to share.
