America’s ToothFairy Halloween SparX Candy Giveaway!

Halloween used to be a touchy subject with me. I am not a huge fan of Trick or Treating. Why? Well, I hate to see so many people spend huge amounts of money on candy. Only for me to throw it away! Yes, you heard me correctly. I don’t like my kids consuming huge amounts of candy. So, if they do go Trick or Treating, I go home and take out a few things, and daddy takes out what he wants, and the rest goes in the trash.
So, after a few years of me feeling so guilty. . . I came up with a different approach. We now do a night time clue hunt with them. At the end there is a bag with a movie, or small toy in it for the child. They really enjoy the challenge, and have a great time doing it in the dark! We also do a Fall Party, with lots of Halloween fun, and a costume component. Then they get to dress up just the same!

America’s ToothFairy is trying to make everyone’s Halloween cavity free. You can sign up to participate in a virtual campaign. This will help your child to work on their oral habits, and help kids with dental disease. Did you know that Tooth decay is the #1 chronic childhood disease?!

Here are some tips to help make Halloween a bit more healthy:
  • Try out xylitol products instead of sugary treats
  • Hand out sugar-free candy or alternatives to trick-or-treaters
  • Hand out multi-colored toothbrushes instead of candy
  • Host a Halloween party where people donate a dollar to a Children’s Charity
  • Most of all, remember to brush & Floss teeth, and visit the dentist every 6 months.

You can also sign up for the Kids Club, where you will receive educational activities for the kids to do, and encourage better oral health. Along with quarterly newsletters, songs, mazes, videos, and so much more!

Lactaid Coupon Giveaway….

Do you have any children that allergic to milk? Or seems to have an intolerance to it?

All my children in one way or another can not have milk. We have experimented with lots of different things over the years to replace their milk. Rice Milk, Almond Milk, Soy Milk, and then finally Lactaid. Lactaid is the one that has lasted. While I still keep some regular milk in the house for some things we cook, I have found that Lactaid is the most versatile to cook with. Plus my husband, who while doesn’t like to admit that he has a milk issue does. After trying whole milk Lactaid, he will use it. He says it taste the most like real milk. He can’t usually tell the difference.

Recently I was able to join in on a webinar with Melissa d’ Arabian Lactaid Brand Spokesperson. (Which might I add I watched on food network when she first became a celeb, and still watch her to this day). She is a NY Times best selling author of the cookbook, Ten Dollar Dinners. All while being the mom of four girls. You might have seen her on the Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda? She was on it April 15th doing breakfast recipes, and will be back on June 26th for EntrĂ©e recipes. If you would like to you can check out 8 online videos here, and here.

We also heard from Michelle Harrington, R.D. and Lactaid Regulatory and Nutritional Affairs Manger. As well as being a pediatric dietitian at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.

So I’m sure many of you are asking what is Lactose exactly? I know, that was my big question when I started researching the milk issue with my kids. Well, lactose is the major carbohydrate in milk and other dairy foods. Lactose is milk sugar and consists of two simple sugars, which are glucose, and galactose. Therefore people who are lactose intolerant can’t break down the lactose probably. Or the body doesn’t know how. Sometimes lactose intolerance can be progressive, so many people may become more intolerant later in life.

Lactaid is a product that helps people who have a lactose sensitivity in digesting dairy products without having the stomach discomfort. It provides the lactase that the body can’t produce enough of to break down lactose.
Believe it or not Lactaid is also 100% real dairy. It just doesn’t have the natural yeast derived enzyme added called lactase. There is a very wide variety of Lactose-Free products as well. You can get different kinds of milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, and eggnog. My son tried the eggnog this year for the first time, he was so EXCITED.
Did you know that Lactaid is the nation’s #1 lactose-free dairy brand?

Once Lactaid is opened it should be consumed within a week. Lactaid products are calcium enriched as well. I make sure to get that for my kids, so they are able to get the calcium they need. It has 500 mg in an 8 oz glass, so you only need two glasses to get your daily amount of calcium.

While it is hard to find in our area.. you can get Lactaid ice cream in 5 flavors. (we only can find chocolate and vanilla which makes my kids sad)
  • Chocolate
  • Vanilla
  • Cookies & Cream
  • Strawberries & Cream
  • Butter Pecan
All flavors except cookies and cream are also gluten free.

I know my kids get frustrated when seeing the things they can’t eat. We have found that yogurt doesn’t bother them. That is because it has live and active cultures. Greek yogurt has double the protein and fewer carbs, which leads to less lactose and easier to digest. (My son prefers Greek yogurt)
Cheese is a bit harder. A rule of thumb for eating cheese though, is that harder the cheese, the less moisture or whey in it. Meaning there is less lactose in it. Always choose the aged cheeses, they are lower in lactose. My son loves Cheddar and Gruyere. However, Pecorino and Swiss cheese are also great hard cheeses to try.

Now cooking with Lactaid. Is it the same or can it be done?
Well, Melissa suggests using it in smoothies. The kids tend to like it more due to a slight sweetness. She also says she swaps Lactaid for regular milk in recipes, cup for cup. When substituting Lactaid for cream in recipes, work in a teaspoon of corn starch. Can also be used to make buttermilk by adding vinegar.

I’m going to be experimenting with some different recipes using Lactaid over the next month, so stay tuned for my blog post in July. Using the link above, leave me a comment telling me something you would like me to try? Telling you how well it worked, and how good it is. In the meantime would you like to win a coupon for a free Lactaid product?

Sears Review

With the Holidays upon us, it is time to think about decorating again! What is more fun than decorating for the Holiday’s? Putting up all those fun lights, and pretty things around the house, to help you with your holiday cheer.

I don’t like to have to go to many places when shopping for my decorations, since I usually have 3 kids tagging along. Therefore, I like to go to a place that is going to have all my decorating needs. Sears Cheer Headquarters is just the place! Whether your looking for outdoor decorations, lights, tree’s, wreaths, or more!!!

I headed off to Sears to look over the selection I was given to choose from. I was happy to see that they had Village accessories and pieces. I collect things for my village every year. I’d like to make it a huge one eventually! This year I was able to pick up a couple pieces for my village and a new building with the gift card I was given for this review. Check out this amazing carousel I’d love to get next year!!!

Sears #DecorateItForward

Another great thing about shopping at Sears for my decorating needs is that all my purchases give me back money. I have the Shop Your Way Rewards. It only takes a few minutes to sign up, and so worth it. You get 10 points for every $1 you spend, and there is no minimum amount to redeem!

Bic Soleil Savy Review:

I have to tell you, I think one of the biggest pains of being a woman is having to shave your legs! I’m a busy mom of 3, like I have time for that!!!

Upon receiving it, I ripped open the package and took it for a spin. Yup, I had used my last razor, and needed another one. I really liked this disposable razor. I’m pretty picky about my razors. I refuse to buy those fancy ones, cause you always spend way to much on blades. They always end up spending more on the blades than what you actually paid for the razor!

Here are some highlights about the razor:
  • Each package contains one disposable handle and 4 refillable cartridges.
  • The Razor’s handle includes a rubber grip
  • Triple-blade heads feature flexible blade technology and lubricating strips with Vitamin E
  • Pivoting heads are made to follow a woman’s contours and provide a super close shave
  • Available at most grocery stores, drug stores, and mass retailers.. for around $7.49

Here are some really good tips for shaving from Bic..
  1. Shave at night, it removes dead skin cells. So shaving at night allows your skin to recover and stregthen.
  2. Shave clean skin, this helps to prevent infection and bumps. Apply hot water before you shave, or shave after showering. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your hair, making it easier to shave.
  3. Apply shaving cream or gel. Its gentler to your skin than regular soap and can help lift hair. Lather the cream, then leave it on for a two minutes prior to shaving. Once your hair is softened the razor will glide more easily over the skin.
  4. Use a sharp blade. You should change your blades regularly, especially if you have sensitive skin. Shaving with a dull blade can result in red spots.

Now for the good news… I have coupons to giveaway! They don’t expired until December of this year.

Fiber One Chewy Bars Review & Giveaway:

image

Check out the New Fiber One Chewy Bars. They come in a few different variety’s. Chocolate, Strawberry, and PB&J.
As a mom, I’m always worrying about my kids getting enough fiber in their diet. Lets face it, fiber usually does not come in the most appealing flavors. Lol..  So, when great products like this come along, I’m eager to try them.
We are also super busy, so bars are awesome to grab and just throw in my purse, or bag to bring with us on the go.
Fiber One Bars contain 20% of the daily value of fiber, and 10% of your daily value of calcium. They are only about 100 to 110 calories, and contain NO High Fructose Corn Syrup. (for me this is huge) With only 7 or 8 grams of sugar.

Thoughts of my kids:
They tried them today for a snack.. and really seemed to like them. My middle daughter like the peanut butter and jelly one. Then my other two enjoyed the Chocolate. They said they taste delicious.. Great for an on the go snack, which we are always in need of.

Thoughts of me:
I also tired them today.. and I have to say I really like the chocolate ones. I love that the kids like them, and they are good for you. I’m excited to have a new product to add to our on the go bag, and snacks for busy days!

Now for the best part… One of my lucky readers will be able to win a Fiber One Chewy Bar Prize Pack.. (pictured below)

Yoplait Lactose Free Yogurt Review & Giveaway:

image

When we got the opportunity to try this one.. I jumped at it literally!! (I got up out of my chair an jumped in delight) For a few reasons really..

The first being, my kids love yogurt, but two of my kids are limited to, or don’t have lactose in their diet. My son being the biggest one. He would eat yogurt EVERY day several times a day, if allowed.

When I told him about this opportunity and that he was going to be able to try it he was super excited. So off the store we went.. took us a couple of stores to find some. As they just hit the shelves this month… When he found them he was overjoyed. He was sad that they only came in four flavors right now, but is hoping it will expand soon. He had Strawberry, Peach, French-Vanilla, and Cherry to choose from. He loves peach yogurt, so that was his decision.

As soon as we got home, he popped it open and dug in! He said “Mom, this really doesn’t taste much different to me”. I was thrilled to hear that! We are excited to add this to our shopping list now. Monkey Man is happy to have his favorite treat available to eat more than a few times a month again.

Ready for the best part???

A giveaway!!!

The prize pack includes…
  • A coupon for a free Yoplait Lactose Free Yogurt
  • Lunch Tote
  • 2 Gel Packs
  • A bowl
  • A spoon
What part to did I get out of this?? I got the AWESOME Lime green lunch bag. Did I mention lime green is my FAVORITE color???!!! The lunch bag is awesome too! Oh, and I claimed the green bowl too!

Good luck!!!

It’s that time of year again….

when all those nasty cold germs are floating about… and you have to remind them to watch their hands 50 times a day so they don’t catch some nasty virus going around..

Although, despite our best efforts as parents, they still get sick sometimes don’t they?

One great things for us, has been since we have started to Homeschool, they have been pretty healthy, knock on wood (Tap,tap). Don’t get me wrong they still get a sniffle now and again, or a nagging cough, but they are less likely to get something much worse.

This week for instance, two of the Monkey’s are sick. They have these deep coughs, that don’t go away… especially in the middle of the night. Their heads are congested, and their noses are dripping… ((sigh))

So what are some of your go to remedies? For a cough, I love to use a cough syrup with honey in it, or straight honey. However, that doesn’t always do the trick, so we also really like delsyum.

Before they get to bad, we also give them a glass a day of Emergen-C to drink. That makes an enormous difference. They don’t have the cold for nearly as long, and sometimes it only comes with a few sniffles.

For those nights when that doesn’t work though, we use a Tylenol or ibuprofen for fever, and pain reliever like Children’s Advil. We recently got a bottle of Children’s Advil to try.. we have had to use it a couple of times since the kids got sick. It worked well, and the kids liked the flavor. It seemed to last longer than some of the no-name brands we have tried in the past.

Children’s Advil is great for helping relieve a fever for up to 8 hours with only one dose. It comes in 4 great flavors for those kids who don’t like a medicine taste.. You can find it in Dye-Free – White Grape (which I like to get, they don’t need added chemicals), Grape, Fruit, and Blue Raspberry. Two of my monkey’s are not huge on pill form or chewable medicine, so this makes it great for them. Its designed for ages 2-11 but is liquid form.

What are some of your remedies for when your kids get sick?

I have some extra $1 off Any 1 Children’s Advil Product coupons… so I’m going to run a quick giveaway and mail them to the winners. These coupons are good until May.

I was recently able to check out Jockey’s new 2012 Tech Terry Performance Sports Bra, and another bottle of Purex Crystals!

Here are some highlights about the Jockey Tech Terry Performance Sports Bra.
  • Moisture- wicking
  • Convenient Key Pocket
  • Reflective Logo
  • Breathable Mesh
  • Soft & Comfortable

Normally your not suppose to use fabric softener on performance sportswear because of the oil content. This prevents the wicking process. However, you can use Purex Crystals… it contains no oils!!

Unfortunately, I was not able to try out the bra.. It was the wrong size. However, I did inspect it… It is very nice, soft, and looks to be comfortable. I can vouch for Purex Crystals, because my family loves them! We use them for our towels, sheets, blankets, and any clothes that have gotten wet, or the kids have gotten gross! Love the smell! Our favorite sent is Lavender!

My Memories Review

Do you love scrapbooking??
I love taking pictures, and I mean lots of pictures! I probably take like between 200-300 pictures on a normal week, and if it is a week where there is a Holiday or Special event going on more like 500-800. Insane I know!!

It is a hobby of mine… My mom used to say to me, why? It is such a waste of money. I won’t say that a few years ago, she was probably right. I mean the cost of film, and then to develop them, only to get a bunch of pictures, that didn’t come out was very disappointing not to mention expensive. So when they went to digital, I was so happy! I can now look at the pictures before I decide to print them.

Which brings me to scrapbooking… I got into scrapbooking so I could share the memories with my kids. I loved it, but it is so hard to keep up with. At first I couldn’t leave my stuff out or the kids would get into it. Then it became an issue, cause we didn’t have the space to leave everything out. If you scrapbook you know it is a pain, to drag everything out, and then put it all back.
So when I was offered a chance to try out the My Memories Software, I was super excited.

The program itself is super easy to download, and the very easy to use. I’ve checked out a few Digital Scrapbooking Software. None seemed as easy to use, and either took up a lot of space, or were way to costly.
The perks of this software… are that its easy to use, has many already made layouts, you just insert the papers you want. Comes with some papers, text, and embellishments already loaded to the software. They have some free ones for download (which again is easy to do), and they have weekends where they open upothers for free. I’ve already established a good amount. You can also buy some for a reasonable amount. Then when you are all done, you can save it to your computer in a Jpg form, so you can share it easier!!

40539538b

The disadvantages of this software…. well, I’m not sure I really came a crossed any. My only concern is that I will probably spend way to much time using it, then I should! Smile

78667523b
Here are a few of the pages I pulled together. I really have enjoyed using this program. I always swore I would not use a digital software to make my pages, but I have to say, its growing on me. I finished 3 pages in less than 40 mins. I couldn’t do that with paper. Plus you can place an embellishment and if you don’t like it, it is so much easier to remove. Smile

Would you like to try My Memories Software? Go here, and buy it today for the low cost of $39.97 and if you use this code, you can get $10 off your order STMMMS89598

or
One Lucky winner 3 Crazy’s Monkey reader will have the chance to win a copy of the software.

Lots of us have had a friend or family member with cancer, and have wanted to help. Most of us don’t have a ton of money to send, so this is a great way to have a pizza night and help a person you know. Smile
You can also share your stories on www.ProudToSupportPink.com or on their facebook page (www.Facebook.com/FreschettaPizza
In addition to the donation they are also donating 50 pink iPod Shuffles each week in October to four Cancer Centers around America to be enjoyed by breast cancer patients during treatments.

I can’t wait to do my part!

Ready for the best part???
