Review: Disney’s Shake It Up: I <3 Dance CD

Shake It Up I Heart Dance Album Sampler

What kid doesn’t like Disney right?

I recently received the Disney’s Shake It Up: I <3 Dance Cd to review. My girls went crazy! Once I opened the package and they saw what it was, they were jumping up and down, begging for me to play it.

My girls have only seen Disney’s Shake It Up! Show a couple of times, but knew who the stars Bella Thorne, and Zendaya were immediately! Guess I’m out of the loop! Ha-ha! On the Cd you will find a collection of 12 dance tracks from their third season of the show.

Here are a few of the stars you will hear on Shake It Up: I <3 Dance Cd. There are songs from Bella, Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Roshon Fegan, Caroline Sunshine, and Bridgit Mendler.

My girls loved the Cd, and beg to play it in my car all the time. I have to say their a a few songs even I have become fond of. It is a great little Cd. The girls favorite song was “Contagious Love” by Zendaya and Bella Thorne. I think I can sing the whole song now. (But I won’t cause my voice is horrible)

You can purchase the Shake It Up: I <3 Dance Cd from Amazon or iTunes for $9.99. Great gift idea!

*Thank you to Child’s Play and Disney for sending us this CD for review. All opinions are 100% mine or my monkey’s.

Chris Mann- Roads Album Review:

http://www.one2onenetwork.com/Userfiles/Chris%20Mann%20Roads/Roads%20Album%20Cover.jpg

If you have seen the “The Voice” then you have heard of Chris Mann. He is a singer with a wonderful voice, I must say. I’m going to be honest with you. I have never watched the Voice. So, I had not heard him until reviewing this album.

Chris Mann in the last year, has been on The Voice, and now signed to Faircraft/Univeersal Republic. His newest release is a major label debut called the “Roads". This is a classical-pop genre. He really brings a different approach to some of these classic songs.

About Chris Mann:

http://www.one2onenetwork.com/Userfiles/Chris%20Mann%20Roads/cm_01-bar1_0183.jpg

He studied opera (which you can tell in some of his songs) at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Originally from Wichita, Kansas where he tried to start off his singing career. Singing in clubs, and auditioning for record labels. He did some backstage singing and occasionally made it on camera on the cast of Glee.

After coming in fourth on the season two of The Voice, he got his break.

The Cd:

Mann singings a classical-pop version of a few well know songs like “Always on my Mind” by Willie Nelson, and “Need you Now” by Lady Antebellum’s.

“The Blower’s Daughter” is a song where Aguilera joins him. Chris Mann co-wrote two of the songs, “Cuore” (which is based on Bach’s “Air on a G String”) and “Viva La Vida”.

What you can find on the “Roads” available on Oct 30th!

  • Roads
  • Need You Now
  • Cuore
  • The Blower’s Daughter
  • My Way
  • Unless You Mean It
  • Always on My Mind
  • On A Night Like This
  • Ave Maria
  • Falling
  • Viva La Vida

You can purchase “Roads” from iTunes or Amazon.

Our Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this cd. Its not really my normal listening music, but there was something capturing about it. His voice is so soothing. I put it on my Ipod, and listened to it before bed. I’ve turned in on my computer, and we have all listened to it while doing chores. It just seems to be a great collection.

I think my favorite is the The Blower’s Daughter. There is just something about that song. I love his voice, and the music. Aguilera even makes a nice ending to it. Their voices together were amazing!

My kids love the song “Need You Now” and they really liked his version as well. I think this CD is great for the young and old.

This would make a wonderful Christmas Present for the music lover in your family.

*This is a review post from One2One Network. I was provided with a copy of the album and I am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions are 100% mine or my monkey’s.

TOS Review: Music Together

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb374/TOSCrew2011/Music%20Together/music-logo.gif

I’m not musical by any means.. I mean, I can’t carry a tune for the life of me. Ask my kids, or husband who have to listen to me sing in the car! Haha!! My kids however really enjoy different aspects of music. My oldest, loves to sing, and can remember the words to any song he has heard. (Sometimes he truly amazes me) My two girls just LOVE to dance, and sing. They will turn anything into a song. (This to can be pretty humorous at times)

So how do we incorporate music in our schooling? Well, other than my oldest and youngest taking piano lessons we really don’t. In our neck of the woods, it is really hard to find much opportunities to incorporate music. My middle daughter would love to take voice lessons, but many places around here don’t do them at her age. Plus the cost of all these lessons, gets very expensive.

That brings me to Music Together, a program we recently had the opportunity to review. Music Together is about providing the highest quality music and movement experiences to young children, while involving their parents and other adult caregivers.

Here is their Philosophy:

  1. All Children are Musical
  2. Therefore, all children can achieve basic music competence, which we have defined as the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm.
  3. The participation and modeling of parents and caregivers, regardless of their musical ability, is essential to a child’s musical growth.
  4. This growth is best achieved in a playful, developmentally appropriate, non-performace-oriented learning environment that is musically rich yet immediately accessible to the child’s and the adults participation.

Music Together also has groups that meet in over 2000 communities and 40 countries. Bringing music to all kinds of children! You can find a class near you here.

We got to check out their Music Together Family Favorites Songbook for Teachers and CD. So what exactly do they have to offer? The Music Together Family Favorites CD has 19 of the most popular songs from 9 Music Together Collections. (Which they have won a lot of awards) With the CD you get an informative booklet. This booklet is 32 pages, with a page for each song with a couple suggested activities to go along with that song. Along with information about the song. The CD and booklet come in a nice tri-fold case, and it is very well put together.

The songs included on this CD are:

  • Hello Song
  • Biddy Biddy
  • Splishing and Splashing
  • Ridin’ in the Car
  • Stick Tune
  • She Sells Sea Shells
  • Playin’ in the Kitchen
  • Palo, Palo
  • John the Rabbit
  • Spin and Stop
  • Mississippi Cats
  • One Little Owl
  • Goin’ for Coffee
  • Obwisana
  • I’ve been Working on the Railroad
  • Dancing with Teddy
  • Allee Galloo
  • May All Children
  • Goodbye, So Long, Farewell

There are lots of songs on here, that many of us know already. Some of which I would consider classic songs. My kids really like I’ve Been working on the Railroad, and my girls really like Dancing with Teddy. Our main music listening happens in the car, so the first few times we listened to these was in the car. Then when we got home, you could always catch one of us singing one of these tunes. Haha! For me it was usually I’ve been working on the Railroad.

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb374/TOSCrew2011/Music%20Together/FFTeacherSB.gif

Now on to the Music Together Family Favorites Songbook for Teachers. This book is a nice 112 page spiral bound book. It starts with a nice section on “How to use this book” which was very helpful. Then it moved on to tell about their philosophy, and principles. It also talks about the types of songs, and activities, working with instruments and props, as well as using this book with children with special needs. The first part of this book has great information, and should not be skipped.

After you read all of that information, the next part of the book is the Songs. Listed in Alphabetical order, this includes information about the song. It gives you the sheet music, which is nice if you have a child that wants to try and play along. As well as a few suggested activities.

The last part of this book is a Reference Section with information about their program, and classes.

How we used this product:

A number of times we just put it on to listen to in the car, or we would play it while doing our chores. My kids love to just listen to music. A few times we choose a couple of songs, and did a few activities to go along with them. My middle child liked to just put the music on and dance.

Music Together Family Favorites is geared toward infant- to second grade.

Our Thoughts:

As I just stated this product is geared toward infant- to second grade. I will have to say my two girls really enjoyed this a lot, but they are also more into singing and dancing. However, with that being said, that does not mean that my 10 yr old son did not enjoy it all. In fact it was quite the opposite. While he did not really care for the activities as much, he liked listening to the music, and even attempted a couple of songs on his piano.

I really thought this was a lovely CD. I love the concept they are trying to teach. I wish we had been able to join a class when my children were younger. I think for any homeschooling family this would be a wonderful addition to get some music in there. Another great thing is that the music is all different. My family has always loved a wide range of music, and this was no different. I even enjoyed getting in on some of the fun activities. We loved coming up with different things around the house, to try to add a beat to any song.

TOS Review: KinderBach

image

This review was neat.  My kids have always wanted to learn how to play Piano, and this makes it a bit easier on my budget. With three kids, lessons can get a bit costly. However, I was afraid something taught by dvd or something wouldn’t be easy enough, or to distracting for them.

image

KinderBach is an online or Dvd curriculum with the goal of both the parent and the teacher to have fun. Can’t bet that can you?

Price:

Online Piano Lessons start at $7.99 and the Dvd sets start at $40.45

** Note they are trying to get an app for Ipad’s and Androids soon too.

Age:

This program is geared towards 3-7 yrs old.. but my 9 yr old watched and learned with the girls. Might be to childish for a child 10 or older..

image

The lessons are gradual and child based with lots of fun characters, so learning can go at their speed. They also include some pretty fun characters to make it even more fun.

image

One of our favorite features, is that you don’t have to spend a lot of time with the lessons. If you miss a lesson one week, its not the end of the world. With our busy lives, that is HUGE!  You also don’t need to have a piano or keyboard to use right away. It is taught without it at first.

A bit more about the Kinderbach .. it has 6 levels, and each level has 10 weeks, and each week has 4 lessons. So this program could last a long time, or your child might zoom through it. My kids found that they liked it enough to want to go through more than one lesson at a time, however, I limited them to only 2 lessons at a time, cause I didn’t want them to loose sight of what they were learning.

You can also supplement what you are learning with each lesson through the pintables. Most lessons have a printable to go along with them. Which my kids loved!

image

My thoughts:

Do I think it is worth it? Absolutely, cause normal piano lessons are usually around $10-$15 dollars or more per half hour. So, to get them started I think this program is would be a great fit.

They also offer a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee so give a it a try today and let me know what you think!

Be sure to swing by and see what other TOS members are saying about Kinderbach!

*I was given a free access to Kinderbach for my honest opinion as part of TOS. All opinions are 100% mine or my monkey’s.

Yanni Voices

I was recently lucky enough to review this product. I have always enjoyed Yanni's music, even as a younger generation. I found it soothing when you just needed some quiet time. This Cd is no different except it has voices in the music. I enjoyed it, however think that some of them would have been better without the voices. On this album Yanni was joined with other artists, Nathan Pacheco, Leslie Mills, Chloe, and Ender Thomas. Among these were some amazing artists, Chloe, and Ender have amazing voices.

This Cd also has a feature Dvd with the "Making of Yanni Voices Featuring Tour Highlights".

It has the 17 tracks:

  • Omaggio (Tribute)
  • The Keeper
  • Our Days
  • Never Leave the Sun
  • Before the Night Ends
  • 1001
  • Mas Alla
  • Unico Amore (Enchantment)
  • Vivi Il Tuo Sogno (Almost a Whisper)
  • Orchid
