Book Basket

We haven’t been able to post much lately, about our book basket. Things have been crazy around here. Sage and I have finally been able to get some books, and wanted to share them with you!

  • The Birthday Pet by Ellen Javernick : Hunter read this one, and really liked it. Its about a quest for a little boy to find the prefect pet for him.
  • Delicious by Helen Cooper: This was a cute story about 3 animals on the hunt for a yummy soup. But the duck didn’t like any of them, until they found an orange one, and even though it wasn’t pumpkin soup. Very cute!
  • Finn Throws a FIT! by David Elliot: This was one I specifically picked for my daughter, cause she likes to throw fits. She even realized it was a lot like her. However, it was cute!
  • Goldilicious by Victoria Kann: We loved the first two books, Pinkalicious, and Purplicious. My girls have been anxiously awaiting this book since it came out. It was just as good as the first two. I love the imagination in these books! Its wonderful!

So there is our list for this week. Some really cute books! We hope to have more next week. We welcome any suggestions you have! Happy reading! :)

Book Basket

This week we have a small list. Its weird going to the library with just one child now… (have I mentioned this already) Sage really enjoys being the only one to go with me though. Its her special thing to look forward to each week. Here is our list this week:

  • Ladybug Girl by David Solman and Jacky Davis: Its about a little girl that likes to dress up… She is bored so her and her dog are on a mission to find something to do.
  • Princess Fidgety Feet by Pat Posner: This one is about a Princess that loves to play soccer but isn’t allowed, so her friend is trying to teach her moves… She then get the nickname Princess Fidgety Feet!
  • Toot & Puddle The Great Cheese Chase by Holly Hobbie: This is based on the Noggin Show Toot & Puddle, my two girls have recently found this show, and seem to really enjoy it. Its about two pigs and the adventures they have. Great for the younger school crowd!
  • My Little Girl by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas: I have to admit, I snagged this book, because I love Tim McGraw, and his song My Little Girl! Its about a Dad and Daughters Big Day together! It is very cute, and I think a prefect book for a daddy to read to his daughter’s!
  • 39 Clues, The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan: My son is currently reading this book. Its the 1st in a so far 6 book series with more to come I’m sure! He enjoys it so far. Its a mystery book… About the Cahill Family and how they find clues around the world to become the most powerful family in history.

There is our rather small list for us! Haven’t had much time for reading this week, with school, dance, scouts, Sage sick, and a cold going around our house! We should be back full swing next week. Happy Reading everyone!

Book Basket

This was our first week back to the library in a couple weeks, due to our vacation and stuff being busy with school starting. It was interesting to go with only one of the kids, as the other two were in school. Sage enjoyed the one on one time though, and as always loved the library. I did make sure to get a list of books everyone wanted us to try to find while we were there for them though. Aren’t I a nice Mom?? :)

Here is our list from this week:

  • Snore, Dinosaur, Snore by John Bendall-Brunello: This was a super cute book for preschool kids, or a child just learning to read… its mostly pictures, with only a couple of words, so they can easily follow along!
  • The littlest Lighthouse Keeper by Heidi and Daniel Howarth: My kids thought this book was super cute as well. Its about a mouse that helps the lighthouse keeper, and when the keeper is away how the mouse gets his friends to help him out and work as a team. Very cute!
  • Dora’s Chilly Day & Dora At the Carnival: What trip in to the library in my house would be complete without a Dora book??? My girls just love them!

Stay tuned for next week, as I’m sure the list will be a bit bigger, cause we will need books to keep Sage entertained after her surgery! Have a great week and Happy reading!

This week we have a short selection, cause we are leaving for our Vacation tonight….

  • Dulcie’s Taste of Magic by Gail Herman: This is part of the Tinkerbell Series. My Middle daughter like Tinkerbell and we have been slowly reading through them… this is only like the 4th of 10 or more.
  • Good Night Gorilla’s by Mary Pope Osborne: Part of the Magic Tree House Series… My son is the biggest fan of these, but my daughters do enjoy them as well. We also listen to them at night on Cd.

This is our selection for this week, as we have been really busy with back to school stuff, doctors, and dentist appointments, and getting ready for our trip. We didn’t even go to the library this week, which really made the girls sad. I promised a trip when we got back. So be watching for next week’s list which I’m sure will be HUGE! Happy reading everyone!

This week we had a few more books than normal cause we went a bit over board… here are our favorites!

  • Sisters by Judith Caseley this is a good one for anyone out there that maybe adopting or having a new baby. Its about a family that gets a new girl, and how they become sisters, and how they test the waters with each other. Very cute…
  • Bear’s New Friend by Karma Wilson we thought this was a cute one, as it is by the same Author as Bear Snores on… another one we enjoy!
  • Dora’s Storytime Collection by Simon Spotlight this one included 7 stories in one big book. Which was a huge hit among my girls as they love DORA! It also had a section in the back with some of the common words Dora uses in Spanish, with how to pronounce them and what they mean. Which was a huge hit with my oldest girl, cause even at the age of 5 she is very interested in learning Spanish. :)
  • The Great Pig Escape by Eileen Christelow a very cute book about pigs… The girls thought it was funny. The cover had us very interested in what it had to offer!

Be sure to head on over to Happy Housewife to see what everyone else has been reading!

Here is our list from this week:

  • Fred Stays with Me!! by Nancy Coffelt this was a cute book, about a girl who lives with both her parents. We thought it was cute, but I also think it might be a good one for anyone that is going through a divorce.
  • Anna Banana and Me by Lenore Blegvad this was a cute book, that shows with a bit of imagination and magic, you can over come anything. Gotta love the adventures that follow!
  • That Pesky Rat by Lauren Child who is by far one of our favorite Authors… and so we had to read this book.
  • A Pocket full of Kisses by Audrey Penn the author of another of our favorite books “The Kissing Hand”.

This week we read some interesting books… we like to look for the unusual books as they are not always as they seem…  After all you can’t judge a book by its cover right???

  • Diego and the Dinosaurs By Lara Bergen is a nice book for that child just begining to learn to read. It has pictures in place of some of the words so your child can help you read. My 4 & 5 yr olds love this!
  • Arthur and the True Francine By Marc Brown was a cute book based on the Cartoon Arthur on PBS. This one teaches the importance of telling the truth… even when you don’t want to get in trouble cause it can effect other people.
  • Eating up Gladys By Margot Zemach was a cute book about a bossy sister.. My girls laughed at this one, but also learned that being bossy isn’t such a good idea sometimes.
  • Scared By Jane Bingham was a nice book for my 5 yr old daughter. She is scared of everything lately… and this asked things like “What makes you scared” or “Is there a way to feel better” and gave some examples of kids who got scared and what they did.
  • Think Cool Thoughts By Elizabeth Perry was one of those off the wall books. But I thought it was cute, and showed how your imagination can help you do so many things like even cool off the air!

That was our list from this week. Happy Housewife should be returning next week, so we can see other peoples list again. I hope that you enjoyed your library books this week, and we always welcome any suggestions. See you next week!

Even though this was the week of the 4th didn’t mean we slowed down on the reading at all!!  Here is our weeks list of books:

  • Sylvia Jean Drama Queen by Lisa Campbell Ernst: This book was cute… and showed how being creative can make you someone else at times. The girls thought it was cute.
  • Here we go round the Mulberry Bush by Iza Trapani: I cute story using the lines from the song. My girls thought it was cute, and enjoyed singing the song…
  • When the cows come home by David Harrison: Cute book about what cows do when out to pasture and the farmer isn’t looking. My girls thought it was funny… Great for younger kids Ages 2-4ish
  • The Curious Garden by Peter Brown: An excellent book about what can happen when one takes care of a few flowers in the city. My girls thought this books was really cool, and loved that it showed a happy city in the end. Very cute!
  • Down by the cool of the pool by Tony Mitton: An interesting book… My girls seem to really love this book. Not sure if its cause it is repetitive and they can help me read it or, just cause. Its about a animal sounds, and how they dance. Not a bad book, just not one I would think would be that popular…

So there you have our books from this week… We return on Tuesday to watch a magic show put together by the library program… Then Wednesday we will pick out all new books. I must say… we are slowly running out of books!!!

This week we went to the library a few times… Our library has a summer program going on plus our regular story time. Be sure to check your local library out. My girls also get entered into a drawing every week to win a book with a stuffed animal. What better way to encourage kids to read right???
Here is this weeks books we tackled!

  • Cat Jumped in By Tess Weaver:  My girls thought this book was cute telling about the trouble the cat got into. I would recommend it for Ages 2-5
  • A wild father’s day By Sean Callahan: A bit late for Father’s day, but we decided to read it anyway, and we sure were not disappointed. Its a cute story about fathers day. I would recommend it to any young kids to read with their dad!
  • Stolen Smile By Thierry Robberecht: Another cute book, about a girl who loses her smile, and why.. and then how she gets it back. Good story to teach how not to let others get you down. Good for ages 4-6
  • Dora’s Perfect Pumpkin By Kirsten Larsen: This is a step to reading book level one. My girls love Dora, so this was good for them to help me read the story as it has pictures for a few words in the paragraph so they can read along with you. Great for beginner readers like my girls!
  • Twinkle the Tooth Fairy By Nick Ellsworth: A cute book about a tooth fairy that works hard collecting teeth, and really wants to make it to a Ball. So her friend helps her figure out a faster way of collecting the teeth. My girls thought it was a good book. I would say good for ages 3-5
  • Eloise In Paris By Kay Thompson’s: Another great book of course. The girls just can’t get enough of Eloise, who is only 6! This one is a bit longer of a read than most her books, but provides a lot of laughs. We really enjoyed it.

Happy Housewife is still moving this week, so i won’t be linked to her again this week. However, she will be back next week. We just wanted to keep ours going, since we love to read so much! We welcome any suggestions…. as we are starting to run out of books from our library!  Happy Reading!

This was our first week back on track at the library… It was so nice to get back there, and to have our routine back in order. Here are the books we read this week:

If you give a cat a cupcake by Laura Numeroff: Now this author has a lot of similar books, they are are hit among my children. The girls really thought this book was cute, and funny.

Grandma Lena’s Big Ol’ Turnip by Denla Lewis Hester: Not one of the greatest books we have read, but it was cute. The girls laughed a few times.

Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball bully by Julianne Moore: This was a cute book and shows kids not to be scared about things until you try it. Might not be as scary as you think in the end.  Very cute book for younger girls.

I’m not going to SCHOOL today! by Robbie Harris: A very good book for any child starting school. My girls like this one. My middle daughter enjoyed it most, since she will be starting Kindergarten in the fall.. But it shows that even if you don’t know where everything is, or what is going to happen, its ok to be a bit scared.

Freckleface Strawberry by Julianne Moore: As you can see there are a couple of these books. My girls like both. I particularly liked this book, cause I have freckles and remember trying some of the stunts she did. It is a very cute book.  Shows that being different can sometimes be ok, and fun!

Happy Housewife will not be posting these again until July 30th, due to her move. I will continue to post each Thursday just the same..so feel free to stop back by!
