Monkey Man has improved a lot this year.. love to see how much he changes every year.
We did really good, winning 6 of our games and losing 3. They did really good! Despite the weather!
Here are a few pictures, of our year!
So Monkey Man is playing baseball again this year! This is his 4th year! Wow, doesn’t seem possible.
Many differences this year though, we are back in Maine, so he is in a small town rec team. Where as the last two years where in a big city league.
He is doing great so far this season. We are only one game in, and they didn’t win.. but they gave it a good shot!
Here are a few shots of my little man!
Ready to bat!
He is getting so big!
Go Monkey Man!!!!!
and what a wonderful season it was. To watch both kids learn and excel at something is great.
To watch their faces with excitement when they hit that ball is amazing….
To see the confidence build in them is priceless!
Here are some shots with the kids…
and I have a little girl that is SOOOO excited. Sage decided that she wanted something special to call her own. Therefore, we signed her up for T-ball. She is so excited! She has a pink and purple glove, and pink cleats! It is so freaking adorable!
I hope that she has a ton of fun!
Its a good thing she is cute, cause its another thing to add to the schedule!!!
and the schedule gets crazier!! Hunter has decided that he wants to play Baseball again this year. He loves it. I made a deal with him, that if he really wants to play and promised to try hard, and do his school work.. I would sign him up. So here we are...
It looks to be a very promising baseball season. We have very good coaches and he could learn so much from them. I think, he is really going to improve in many areas this year.
Here are some of the shots we have from our first few practices.
Not to worry there will be more pictures to come!
Hunter had his first official game of the season. It was rather different as we had an umpire and everything! Hunter wasn’t able to hit the ball, as he is not used to the weight of an official baseball bat. He tried so hard though, and was upset that he didn’t get to hit the ball. However, I was so proud of some moves he made. He stopped two balls, and almost got one kid out. We still need to work on the throw the ball as soon as you get it! He is getting much better and doing a great job though. Here a few shots I was able to get. He played 2nd base for most of the game. That made him so happy!
Hunter is the one to the left of the guy in the blue shirt…
Saturday was Opening Day for our Little League…. they had a big event schedule for this. We arrived at 8am, oh so early for a Saturday morning! To have our team pictures done. I’m very excited, i think they are going to come out great. From there we hung around, and waited for Opening Ceremonies to begin. They lined up all the teams, I believe we have somewhere around 30 teams this year playing from T-ball to Majors. They then introduced all coaches, team moms, and players. Plus the board members and the Mayor. Our Mayor threw the opening ball, and it was official.
We had about an hour and half down time where we had brought a picnic lunch to eat. The kids love any kind of picnic, all they have to do is here the word! After our lunch we went to watch Hunter play their one inning game. To give the kids a taste of what was to come. He was so excited to be all in his uniform, and out there on the field. He however, quickly got bummed, cause this year we have to use regulation baseball bats. They are a bit longer and heavier than the T-ball bat. Therefore, he was not able to hit the ball his turn up. He tipped it, but did not make it out on the field. Being emotional this was hard for him to take, but we just told him we would work on it at home with his new bat. So, cross your fingers we can hit one at our next game. I think he is doing awesome for having to use a new bat, and being pitched to by machine with balls going 42 MPH. He isn’t scared of it though! Our first game is Friday!
Here is his team for this year:
After some anticipation, baseball season has begun. Hunter has been pretty excited about this…as we have been picking up some supplies. He needed a new glove, cause last year, he left it on the field at one of the last games, and was never found again! Of course we are not complete without a ball, and bat as well. (Especial if we plan on practicing at home, duh mom!) To make my life easier I pick up a equipment bag, so we would have a good storage spot for it all. Plus after much deliration, I decided to spend the money to get a pair of cleats. I wasn’t going to, but he only has one pair of sneakers, and I did NOT want them ruined…since he wears them to school. Now we are just waiting for the rest of his uniform, and he will be ready to go!
I was anxious as the first practice arose. I was hoping we were not going to have a repeat of last year. Such as, staring off at the sky, chasing butterflies, digging in the dirt….and so on. I was so proud of him! His practice was 2 hrs long, and for most of you I’m sure you know that even a 6 yr old is hard to keep focused for 2 hrs! Well, I’m proud to announce, Hunter did very well until the last 20 minutes. He was focused, in his baseball ready stance, catching balls, and right on task. He had a few concerns with himself, as he felt he wasn’t good enough. We of course talked about how he hadn’t played since last June, and needed to practice some more. He is nervous as well this year, cause he is on Coach pitch this year, but here that means, a machine pitches to you. A bit intimidating for a 6 yr old. So, I am trying to find some batting cages we can go to for some extra practice!
(sorry the picture is blurry, still getting used to my FIL camera)
