Temple Touch Thermometer Review and Giveaway!

TempleTouch_Back

I recently was asked to review the Reli On Temple Touch Thermometer. Thanks to Mom Select!  I did need the use of a thermometer this weekend. As you may have read in a previous post about Sage’s Surgery. Being the worried mom that I am, I felt the need to keep tabs on her temperature after her surgery. I worry about infections sneaking in, and such.

The New Temple Touch Thermometer has some really great features that helped me. First being the child can be awake or asleep. My daughter is still not as cooperative about the under the tongue thermometer as I would like, therefore not always getting an accurate reading. This I could take while she was sleeping or even while she was awake.
Here are some of the features of this Thermometer:

  • its lightweight
  • 6 second readout
  • has memory recall
  • no tip covers needed
  • easy to use
  • accurate
  • inexpensive

Its very easy to use, you just press the on/off button and release, the unit will beep twice when ready, and then you hold it to the child’s temple and wait for the next beep, and read your results. Simple!

You can purchase one from any of your local stores or online line at the Reli On website. They are only 9.94! So hurry out and get one before the cold and flu season hits us.

Mom Select, and Reli On have been kind enough to send me an extra one for ONE of my readers to win.

Water fun:

Since the kids had such a great first week at school, and did so well at home. No tantrums, no fighting, no whining (for the most part) which in our house is HUGE at times. We decided to do something special for the kids. Plus it was our first full weekend with all 3 of the kids again, since Hunter got home.

We started the morning by taking the kids to the playground. Hunter had not yet seen or been able to play on it. He was very excited, and the girls were just excited cause its the PLAYGROUND!

Then from the playground we took them to lunch at Pizza Hut. Which is really a rare treat for them.. which they thought was great. We were able to sit and have a nice conversation without worrying about where we needed to be.

From there we headed over to the new Aquatic Center they built as well this past summer. Its $3 per person to get in… which is not a bad deal…or you can get a season pass. (which I think we are going to do next summer) They have a big lap pool, and then a playground in a surrounding 9-inch water pool, a big slide (which was down the day we were there) and a place where you can get water dumped or sprayed on you. The kids loved it! Its is very nice, and there was always like 4 or 5 lifeguards out and they were very good about keeping the kids in check. Like the ones that would climb up the slides, or go down them head first, or pushing people. Cause for some reason those parents Never seem to be found!!!

We had a great day, and enjoyed being together very much. The kids were well behaved, and had so much fun. We were all a bit sunburned and ready to sleep when we were done. Exhausting but fun! We came home and watched a movie, and went to sleep. Prefect end to a prefect day!

Sage’s Surgery:

As your reading this… we are already at the Hospital to be admitted for Sage’s Surgery. I really am dreading this day, just cause of the classic mom jitters…and cause I’m going alone this time, no one to keep me distracted.

She is going in to have her Tonsils (which no biggie, I lived and I had mine out) and her Adenoids. Yes, they are taking both. Sage has had an issue of very loud snoring for a long time. They thought at first it was allergies, but it wasn’t, and then it continued to her starting to stop breathing in her sleep…and coughing and gasping for air. Which was bad enough, but then this past year, she started waking up from it, and then in turn waking me up, so neither of us get much sleep.

After speaking to a specialist we decided it was best to take both out, cause they are HUGE and this way these problems will most likely be cured. I’m not big on sending my kid into surgery, but I also don’t like having to worry about her breathing while asleep.

Its a quick surgery, but then we have to stay around until she eats or drinks. They told me she may not eat for a week, due to pain, just push the fluids. I’m hoping she heals quickly and does ok. I will update after we get home.

I have a few books to keep me sane while waiting for her, and then when we have to wait to be discharged!

For Today August 31st, 2009

Outside my window.... getting hot… gonna be another steamy day.

I am thinking.... its going to be a very long week!

From my imagination....Some ideas bouncing around for Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts.

I am thankful for.... the time I get to spend with my kiddo’s… and how special those days are!

From the kitchen.... nothing tonight, probably a stop off at McD’s gonna be a long day!

I am wearing..... Shorts, a t-shirt, and my Croc’s!

I am reading....  The Time Traveler’s Wife

I am hoping..... that Sage makes out ok..during her surgery…I’m very nervous for some reason, though my other two have had surgeries as well.

I am creating... a clean space in my room. Big, Big Task!

I am hearing.... Sage ask me when its time to leave for our play date at the park!

One of my favorite things....being with my family!

A few plans for the rest of the week:   play date this morning at the park, Rach has dance after school, then Girl Scouts..….Library, the Cub Scouts tomorrow, Sage’s Surgery on Thursday, and a clam weekend.

Last day of Vacation:

We were really sad to have to say goodbye today…. We packed up our stuff from camp, and stopped off to see my dad to say goodbye. Then we headed down to my Mom’s. Were we had “Christmas in August” so she didn’t have to send their stuff down this year, and so she could watch them open presents. Here is a mini recap.

All Hunter's presents from Mom

Rach with all her presents from Mom

Sage opening presents

Then we loaded everything into the car, which took a few tries, and in the end we had to have my mom mail some stuff down to us. (Sad I know) Our first stop was to give “H” back her duck floatie she left behind the day before. So one last goodbye with them. After that we stopped off to see Di and the kids one last time before leaving. Letting the kids jump on the trampoline for a few minutes to get some energy out! Another sad goodbye, but I hope to see them again soon!

Then we stopped off to pick up my Mother in-law, where I took a few family photo’s. They came out great… and its so hard to get all 8 kids to sit still might I add!!!

All kids

After getting her stuff in the car, we headed for the interstate with a quick stop at the shoe store… (needed to find Rach tap, and ballet shoes) and again at Wal-mart again for our 6 month supply of Red Hot Dogs! LOL! A quick bite to eat at Subway, and then off we went. I drove straight through again… stopping a few times for bathroom breaks, and to stretch our legs. Between the two of us, we made it home in 25 and a half hours this time! It was nice to see home… and boy did the hot shower and my bed feel great!!!

Vacation Part 4:

Wednesday was a long day… I spent the day getting together some more of our stuff we were taking back to Florida with us. My dad changed the oil in my car for the trip home. (gotta love my dad) Then we spent the day with my Best friend again! The kids couldn’t get enough of each other.

Then my other Best friend (more like sister) and her family came up to swim and hang with us. It was so good to see them, however not nearly long enough. I’m hoping they can make it back down here for Christmas again! Then I won’t have to wait as long to see them!  Miss you guys!
