Random Thoughts:

So I thought I would just write a post about some random things going on around our house….

  • As I posted here, Hunter just lost another tooth which makes this the 5th or 6th one he has lost.
  • Rachel’s birthday is coming up, so I am debating whether to make a Barbie cake like  THIS, or a carriage cake like THIS? Getting to expensive buying them, so I am moving on to making them.. Wish me luck! Which one do you like better??
  • My Anniversary is next Tuesday…Been 8 yrs, can’t afford to really do much, so we are thinking a movie and dinner, or something like that.
  • Halloween is fast approaching…we have our costumes, just not sure what we are doing yet. A church thing, or our neighborhood.
  • Campouts of Cub Scouts coming up
  • Fundraisers going on everywhere right now!
  • And to leave you with something funny today… I went to BJ’s yesterday to stock up and I had bought a 5lb tub of butter.. as most of you know they don’t bag things, so I stuck everything in my car. When we got home and unloaded it never dawned on me we didn’t put it away until today when we went looking for it. It had rolled under my center console between the two front seats and Sage and I missed it when bringing things in. After being in 90 to 115 degree weather all afternoon, evening, and this morning it was liquid form. So lesson learned, don’t forget to bring in the butter! Everyone is having a good laugh though, and I will probably never live this down!

Hope you all have a great weekend. For most it must be a long weekend.. Got any plans??

What happens when your kids horse around on the bus…..

My daughter gets off the bus with a grin yesterday…. and so we immediately knew something was up. We asked her and her response was “ I knocked Hunter’s tooth out”. Of course we had to laugh because…come on that is funny!  Mind you this was all an accident I guess they were playing in the seat and Rachel swung her arm, and BAM right into his mouth. His tooth has been loose for awhile, but has been stubborn coming out..guess this did the trick. He wasn’t to upset about it, cause he wanted to get a visit from the tooth fairy anyway…He is saving up money to buy a new Wii game and is only $4 dollars short.  NOTE:  The tooth fairy only gave him $2 so he is close.

another missing tooth
Sorry for the bad quality..took it with my cell. Will replace with a better pictures soon.

Five for Fighting Cd Review

Five for fighting cd cover

I was beyond excited when One2One Network asked me to Review their newest CD. I love their music..and my son is a huge fan of their “Superman” song. We listen to it often. This CD was again just as good. It has the same kind of tune, and is wonderful for that just sitting back reading a book, and relaxing music. I downloaded it into my MP3 player immediately, so I could listen to it while doing housework and writing blogs. Then when my kids came home, my son asked if we had received it yet, so he could listen to it. We are a big music family. Our favorite song was “Chances”. Great buy for the music lover in your family, or yourself.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks Book Review:

The Last Song Book

Author Bio:

Nicholas Sparks is the author of 14 books. He lives in North Carolina with his wife and children. You can visit the author's website to learn more about him.

My thoughts:

First I must start by saying how excited I was to review this book. I LOVE Nicholas Sparks books. I own many of them, and collecting the ones I don’t have slowly. I love to go back and reread them when I have no other books. This book was just like the others, wonderful and met my expectations. It was a bit different for him, but i thought he pulled it off nicely. It reminded me a bit of how I was as a teenager, and was able to relate to Ronnie’s character a few times. In the end I would have to say that Ronnie was my favorite character for many reasons. This was an amazing book, and I look forward to rereading it again in the near future. If you love a good love story you will not be disappointed. I will be anxiously awaiting his next novel.

Summary:

#1 bestselling author Nicholas Sparks's new novel is at once a compelling family drama and a heartrending tale of young love.

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

You can buy the book HERE.

I want to thank Hachette Book Group for the opportunity to review this book.
Disclaimer: I was not paid to read this book. I was given a book in exchange for my review.

I am thankful for.... My ability to stay home with my kids and be the mom I always dreamed of being, even during our ruff times…

From the kitchen

.... Spaghetti tonight… Cleaning out the freezer, getting ready to restock. :)

I am wearing..... Shorts, a tank top, and my Croc’s!

I am reading....  Nothing right now…just finished the new Nicholas Sparks book… Trying to figure out what I want to tackle next!

I am hoping.....that this month is as much fun as I hope it will be… Life is really starting to look up.

I am creating... nothing right now…figuring out what kind of things we want to do for Halloween!

I am hearing.... Sage sing to me.. she is to cute sometimes!

One of my favorite things....finally getting that Mommy time I need to help keep me SANE!

Book Review: Tell me something true by Leila Cobo

Tell me something true book

About the Author:

Renowned journalist and former concert pianist, Leila Cobo is a native of Cali, Colombia. The Executive Director of Latin Content & Programming for Billboard, she is a frequent contributor to NPR and has written liner notes for acts such as Ricky Martin, Shakira and Chayanne. She is also the host of the television show Estudio Billboard, which features in-depth interviews with top Latin acts. Leila is a Fulbright scholar with a graduate degree from the Annenberg School of Communications at USC and holds dual degrees in journalism, from Bogota's Universidad Javeriana, and in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music.

My thoughts:

Something about the cover really caught my eye on this book. That is really why I wanted to read it… Does a cover ever just call out to you??
This book had me laughing, crying, and just intrigued from the moment I picked it up. It only took me a day to read, because I simply couldn’t put it down. I really like the character of Gabriella. How she took things and explained them like you were standing right there next to her. You could almost feel the air of Columbia on your skin as she explained it. The way she thirst for life, and her own version of it. Not what someone wanted her to be, and her courage to go against all odds. This book did have some foul language in it. I would recommend this book to any of my friends.

Summary:

Gabriella always loved the picture of her mother kneeling in front of a bed of roses, smiling, beautiful and impossibly happy. But then she learns that her late mother hated gardening; that she had never wanted the house in the Hollywood hills, the successful movie producer husband, and possibly, her only daughter. When Gabriella discovers a journal--a book that begins as a new mother's letters to her baby girl, but becomes a secret diary--the final entry leaves one question unanswered: the night her mother died, was she returning to Colombia to end an affair, or was she abandoning her family for good?
