Blue & Gold 2011

Any of you who have been following my blog for any length of time… as probably seen my posts, regarding my Monkey man and his Cub Scout adventures.

He is very active in Cub Scouts, and we love that he is so involved. As we feel it has a great impact and such a positive one on his life.

This year he has been working to achieve his “Bear” rank. He has worked very hard, and done very well to do this. Today he was awarded his “Bear rank” badge. As well as some beads, and a special one for doing a sleepover last month.

We are very proud of him and super excited for him. Next up is the Pinewood Derby!

Awards???

Yesterday was the kids awards ceremony at school… Things are still a bit different down here compared to up north. They don’t have Auditoriums so they get to do all there stuff in their classrooms. Strange I say!

Rachel got her certificate of completion of Kindergarten…

Hunter got a certificate for getting all A’s & B’s all four quarters. (the only one in his whole class)

He also got High Honors in Reading on the SAT 10 (kinda like the MEA for you people in Maine) and got 88th Percentile out of all of FL.
He got Honors for Math on the SAT 10 and was in 70th Percentile out of all of FL.

They make me very proud!

So here are some shots from today!

Blue & Gold Banquet

Last night was Hunter’s Blue & Gold Banquet. For those of you not familiar with Boy Scouts this is to celebrate the birthday of Boy Scouts, when Sir Powell founded it in England 99 yrs ago. Wow, 99 yrs… that is a long time, and the program is still running strong.

At this we also had our awards and achievements given out to them. Hunter has yet to get any cause of when we joined was so close to the Holiday’s… we have not had a Den meeting to give them out. So last night Hunter got a lot. He started out with receiving his Bobcat Badge, which he has to wear backwards, until he does a good deed, and then he can turn it over. (I love that they have to be so involved in community service… cause I don’t believe there is enough of it anymore)  I apologize for some of the photos being rather dark. (camera acting up again)

Hunter receiving his Bobcat Badge

Then he got his immediate recognition badge (which is the paw that holds all his beads he achieves), along with 3 orange beads (den activities), 3 black beads (Go-See it activities) and 2 white beads (family activities). Then he got his Art Belt Loop, Computer Belt Loop, and his Computer Pin. Plus the our family got the Family Award. When we finish 4 more things he will get his Tiger Badge, and then he will also receive beads for his electives. You get a yellow bead for every 10 electives you finish. We are almost to our 20th. In order to receive this you have to have your Tiger Badge earned first. He was so proud of himself.

So proud of himself

We are eager to start on some more to get our Tiger Badge. Plus finish some more electives. We have a lot of fun with this, and he is doing excellent. I’m very proud of him. He is learning a lot of amazing things. Plus he is now eager to earn his Chess Belt Loop, so we are going to focus on that next.

After all awards, pins, and belt loops were handed out for all packs, we had our Desert pot luck. There were deserts of all kinds. We had ice cream, no bake cookies, chocolate chip, brownies, apple cake, and of course the birthday cake!  We had a wonderful time, and are so happy to be doing this with our little guy! Stay tuned….. for more on his Derby car!

Rain, Rain, go away!

The rain has been threating us all day... So, I attempted to get some work done today. I did manage to get thru some paperwork, and file it away were it needs to go. I have so many things that need to be neat.... I'm trying to get binders together for all the important paperwork... Like the Embden Rec, Boyscouts (I'm a den mother), Girlscouts (I'm the leader), and I also am gathering up the stuff and putting it some what neatly, for Homeschool. This is a challenge that I have been working on for like months! Its getting there slowly! :) I managed to get the Rec binder together, and started on the boyscout one. Luckily I got alittle extra time, cause just as we were getting ready to sit down to eat, it came it in to rain! Which meant unfortunetly Hunter's game was canceled for tonight, but rescheduled for Monday the 24th... :) Therefore, no excuses, I got more done. YIPPEE for me! Anyway, my point was... even when it rains and we get all dweary their is still hope for getting things done! Have a nice evening!
