Four Foods on Friday

After meandering some blogs this morning... and reading The Daily Grind. I found another post for Friday's, one that suits me a bit better. I like anything that makes me have to think, or tell about stuff. So here is my new post for Friday! Enjoy! :)

#1. Waffles. Do you usually eat frozen or homemade? I have not yet made homemade waffles, however, I would love to be able to get a waffle maker. I sometimes, as a special treat buy my kids frozen waffles, but not very often.

#2. Eggs. Do you buy brown, white, or it doesn’t matter? I buy white, but really to me it just doesn't matter... ;) Eggs are eggs really.

#3. Oatmeal. Do you usually make instant or cooked? Instant, is usually what I get for my kids, but shhh... don't tell my mom! LOL!

#4. Bacon. Share instructions or a recipe that you use bacon in. To be honest the bacon I buy is usually already cooked, I cheat. Cause we put it on pizza, or we use it in sandwiches. Yup, we are sad.

Thursday Thirteen

I recently found out that the "official Thursday Thirteen" site is no longer going to be doing the post, cause of family issues. My heart goes out to them, and my prayers! I really like doing the Thursday Thirteen post, so I'm going to continue with mine.... I am going to go at least thru the alphabet and then go from there, that is at least 26 weeks right?! :) So this week we start with the letter "A"

1. Apples: A great fruit. I love the Golden Delicious the best. Very versatile to, you can cook with them in savory and sweet dishes! My kids like them with peanut butter! One of my favorite family activities is to go apple picking.

2. Ants: Annoying creatures! Especially fire ants, no one has yet gotten bit to bad by them since being here, but we have taught the kids to be very aware of where they stand or sit to play!

3. Awesome: A word I use quite often. Not really sure why, it has just stuck over the years!

4. Aunt: I am an Aunt to 5 technically! I have lots of others, I have adopted over the years. I miss my nieces and nephews very much.

5. Animal Crossing: My new addiction on the Wii might have to buy it. We only rented it to try it out. I don't play video games often, but I have found the Wii to be fun..and very family orientated!

6. Alone: Something I really every get to be.... At what age do your children stop following you to the bathroom???

7. Age: Wow, it is hard to believe that this year I will be 30 years old. UGH! Where did the time go?? My kids are growing up fast... its strange to me how the nine months goes by so slow waiting for them, but once they are here the time just flies.

8. Amazon: No, not the bookstore. I think it would be cool to visit the amazon sometime. See the different creatures that live there, although, avoid all spiders!

9. Appointments: Do you ever notice you go weeks without any, and then they all seem to pile up at once?? I have had some for the kids once a week for the last couple weeks. Crazy!

10. Algebra: I'm not very good at it. However, the year I was in it my father was taking it through adult ed. We had the same teacher, so we used to do our homework together, which worked out nicely cause what he understand I didn't and what I understood he didn't. We made a pretty good time! Ah, the memories!

11. Art: I was never big on it in school, cause I can't draw... But I have come to enjoy it a bit more thru my children. They like anything to do with art, we have crayons up the whazoo! We draw, color, paint, and so on.. Its nice seeing what their minds come up with.

12. Alaska: I'm not sure i could ever live there... Far to cold, and the whole light and dark thing would really get to me. Can you imagine a day with very little daylight or none at all?? I would like to someday visit there though... its on my list of things to do! :)

13. April: So a nice month... beginning of spring one of my favorite seasons. Nice rain showers, but beautiful comfortable days... the flowers start to come out. It is also the month my first child, my handsome little man was born in. :)

Stay tuned next week for the letter "B"

My New Years Resolution:

As most of you saw... My new years resolution this year was to lose weight, and yes I know this is really no different than any other year.. However, this year is different to me, cause I really want this, and I want to be in better health for my kids. I am able to do most everything with them, but I am always low on energy, and I don't like that. I miss out on a lot with them, because I can't keep up with them. So to help keep me going, I'm going to post on here once a week, my weigh in, and any issues or thoughts I may have to share that week..

That being said... I started last week, on Thursday (New Year's Day). I'm posting this a day early, cause I want to make it a Wednesday thing... less hectic for me! I am not going to tell you my start weight, but you will notice on my sidebar my target amount of weight I would like to lose, and yes I know it is going to take me a long time!

Week 1 weigh in: I lost 3pds this week. Not bad for my first week. (I think)

My three major struggles are getting more excerise. Finding the time to squeeze it in.. I have started walking most nights, (not all) after Andy gets out of work, which can sometimes be around 11pm. My second biggest struggle is eating breakfast, so that I get my metabolism going! I'm not a breakfast person... so i have been trying to eat a bowl of cereal, or fruit. Still working on that! Of course my third is portion control. I am pretty sure 90% of us struggle with this, because a lot of people don't understand what a portion is....

This week I have been doing pretty good with the eating healthier thing, and a bit better on my portions. I have been having a salad most days for lunch... and eating dinner with the family, but much less than I normal would have. I have been eating a few more snacks during the day cause I am hungry, but healthier ones. Like, fruit, those round popcorn thing's (can't remember their name), skinny cow ice cream treat(which if you want to know are really good, and they have no sugar added as well), or a granola bar, which is organic but good (target brand). :) I'm still picking up tools along the way... I welcome any advice anyone has to offer.

See you next week!

New Clothes?

Yesterday, the kids were being really good so we decided to take a trip to the Florida Mall. Its about an hour away from us (now that I don't get lost 10 times trying to find it). Andy had the day off, so it was a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Of course we had a plan in mind. Hunter had been bugging me to go to Build-A-Bear to get some new clothes for his Moose, but I told him he had to wait until after the New Year so that the stores would be a bit calmer!

On January 2nd, he says to me "Mom, we forgot to go to the Mall, you said after the New Year". I had to explain to him that didn't mean the second after the midnight! LOL!

The kids were so excited to go to Build-A-Bear! They had received a gift card from Christmas, and we had a few coupons! So, they made out pretty good. Sage got a new dress, pink croc's, pink undies and a Marlin's shirt! Here is Sage's Moose!

Rachel got a new outfit with a skirt and tank top, pink of course. New pink croc's like Sage, red undies and a Marlin's shirt. I wasn't able to get a picture of Rachel's in her new outfit, cause she takes them off to fast for me! So here are the croc's they got:

Hunter got the cutest pair of black sneakers for his moose. I wasn't able to yet get a picture of that either, but will do so as soon as I can! He wanted his to have Pj's.... He changes his Moose every night before he goes to bed! He got a pair of red flannel shorts, a white tank top, and also some army boxers! He said, he needed undies! Here he is with his Moose in his new Pj's before they went to bed!

As we were checking out the lady gave us some ear bows for the girls as well. They have like 10 colors to choose from.... the girls of course wanted pink,Sage choose light pink, Rachel choose bright pink, but the lady figured they would fight over them, so she gave them both each shade of pink! She was very nice! Hunter was a bit sad, cause he wanted something, but he agreed a boy moose would look silly with ear bows! :)

Silly....

Sage has become very attached to this hair net, and we wanted to share a picture with you. Just so you aren't confused... I will give you some background. My MIL works at Walmart as an assistant manager over the Bakery. Of course due to Health codes, she has to wear a hair net... and usually she sticks it in her pocket and it comes home with her. Last night she gave it to Sage to play with.... well she grew a huge attachment to it. This morning she was complaining about her hair being in her faces while she was eating... so she got down and ran off to find her Hair net. Yup, she wore it to keep the hair out of her face! Goober! Here she is:

Manic Monday

Do you have any idiosyncrasies or unusual quirks when it comes to food and/or eating?
I used to have it so none of my food was touching each other, and only eat one food at a time I have gotten better about that. None now that I can really think of... :)

Have you ever written love letters? If so, do you still have any of them? Yes, I have.. Do I anymore... not really. I don't believe I still have any of them. I'm a bit old now for such things. Or at least I think so! :)

How easy or difficult is it for you to say you're sorry? Usually pretty easy, unless I don't believe I did anything wrong. I do have a bit of a stubborn streak to me! Ok, maybe more than a bit!
