Update:

Just wanted to let you all know… that I made it through my first full week at the gym. I am very proud of myself.

On average I have managed to do about 1.7- 2 miles on the treadmill. Then another 1-2 miles on the bike. Plus doing some leg exercises.

I have not weighed myself, since the beginning of me going. Part of me is afraid to, so I am waiting until the end of my second week. I’ll let you know, if you are interested.

I thank you all for your support! It has helped me so much! As well as my friend going with me everyday!

Thanks again!!!!

My legs are gonna hurt tomorrow!

After months of procrastination. I have finally done it!! I made it to the gym today and worked out. I have been trying to loose more weight since the start of the New Year, but I was really lacking the extra kick from exercise. I must tell you that does make a pretty big difference.

I wanted to get a Wii Fit Plus or the Easy Active. But I just didn’t think I would be able to hold myself accountable enough to do it everyday! That is really the hard part isn’t it??

Today started a new journey for me, and I hope it turns out to be a great one.. I’m sure it will have its struggles and its challenges…but with the right amount of determination you can over come anything!

I know your all wondering how I seem to think that I am going to make it to the gym more than if I was to do it at home. Well for one, I have a workout partner… and that in itself is going to be tremendous help! I will have someone to push me to go, and to push me to do better and work longer!

I’m excited… Today I started my first day with walking 1.7 miles on the treadmill, and then doing 1 mile on the bike. Plus a few leg exercises. Burning more than 350 calories!

Our plan is to go every other day… so not to kill ourselves. Plus we have started a 10 week challenge at the Gym. Watch out!!! I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for the encouragement!

My Thoughts:
I was not sure if I would really get anything out of this book. I mean you know how many books about weight loss, I have read?? A LOT!!! However, with each one I try to keep in mind, that it has to be ultimately my decision to be able to make it work. No book is going to do it for you. I have try numerous times over the years…. all ending in failure, cause I found some excuse to give up. As I was reading this book, it dawned on me that I need to stop making the excuses. Their really never is an excuse to just give up. I wouldn’t give up at other things, so why do I when it come to losing weight?? I need to make this goal and stick with it. Doing it one day at a time, and not giving up if I make one mistake, cause everyone makes mistakes or has a bad day… The next day is always a new day right? Therefore, yes again I am committing to try again to lose weight… The start date none other than the 1st of the year. No more excuses, no more I don’t have time to exercise, no more I didn’t have any other options to choose a better meal. I am 30 and need to make this work. I need to be healthier for me and my children, I need to be able to live to see them all grow up. Not end up with cholesterol or diabetes issues… I need to do my part. I need to be their role model and eat right….cause if I don’t who will??? I will be posting about my journey here and there…. so I hope you follow me while I start my new One-Day Way!
She is a fantastic writer, and has so much to share with her own struggle to lose 200 pounds. If she can do it, anyone can right? I love that the books have some other personal stories and journey’s that touched my heart, and hit close to home, as I have also felt those same feelings.
I would absolutely recommend this book to any of my friends, or family that want a new start. A new way to look at life, and how to lose that unwanted pounds..Whether it be 10pds or 200pds, we all have feelings and struggles.

Wednesday Weigh-in

This week was not so bad. I have been eating pretty good, and moving more. I think Sunday helped me work off a bit more. I forgot to wear my pedometer, but I'm guessing it was over 10,000 steps for the day! Phew, makes me tried just thinking about it. Final result, I lost another pound. Yup only 1, but better than gaining right?

Wednesday Weigh-in

So surprisingly after the chocolate holiday of the year, and a night out on the town. I still managed to lose one pound! Can you believe that????? I'm still in shock. Must have been all the walking, around I did. I'm still struggling daily to make it work, but I'm determined to make it! I'm excited to see what next week brings!

Wednesday Weigh-in

After a very long week, and many struggles. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually lost a POUND! I have had a horrible week of snacking issues... and not watching my portions. I haven't been feeling the greatest either, so maybe that helped me out. :) Still working on my exercise but I've got it up there to about 7,000 steps a day, plus a workout every other day.

Wednesday Weigh-in

Another week has passed, and the results are in. I didn't budge, one way or the other. Which isn't bad, but not what I was hoping for either. I should be happy, but its that expectation when you get on the scale. You prayer, hope, and beg for a smaller number.

This week wasn't a horrible week, but it wasn't one of my better weeks either. Exercise was a bust this week, it was to chilly, so the kids didn't want to walk without whining. Which anyone with kids knows, that is more hassle than worth. I need to get more consistent with excuses. I'm working on this. I'd love to have a treadmill, so I could walk anytime of the day, without leaving the house, while helping my son with homework, or reading the girls a book. Oh the convenience would be tremendous! One day hopeful! I've been using a pedometer everyday, just kinda of a reference to me. Or a reminder to get up and move! I average about 6000 a day. I just need to find a way to add in that other 40oo....

I'm rather proud of me in the eating department. My snacking has diminished by half, which is a big relief. We took the girls out to Mc Donald's for lunch yesterday, and I order a salad instead of a grease dripping burger!!! Of course, I love salad anyway. It doesn't come with a drink, so I shared half a soda with my husband. Just think of the calories I cut! GO ME! (sorry, gotta toot your own horn once in a while right) I'm drinking a Slim Fast in the morning for breakfast most days, cause otherwise I don't eat until 1ish, and that isn't great for you either! The steps are there, I just have to concentrate on the one in front of me, instead of the whole set! There ya have it, hope your all sticking with your plan/diet/lifestyle change. Good Luck! Keep up the good work.... see you next week. :)

Wednesday Weigh-in

Opps… Ok, so I was suppose to post this on Wednesday, but I was sick and didn’t get to it. Therefore, here I am. I’m sure none of you are dying to hear…

For this week, and it may have been cause I was sick. I lost 2 lbs… I was actually not surprised by this, cause I haven’t eaten much this week. Lets hope I don’t gain it back next week.

I’m doing better with the portion control. I started also this week, drinking a Slim Fast for Breakfast, since I’m not big on eating in the morning. I didn’t get as many steps in this week, as i would have liked…. but will continue to try. I have gotten better at the exercise part. I do 40 min workout each day… (except for the couple days I wasn’t feeling well) I’ve even got the kids involved in this, and they enjoy it.

Lets hope for good results next week too!

Wednesday Weigh-in

Well despite many obstacles this week.... I was somehow able to lose 2 pounds. I did get a bit more exercise in this week, except the last two days, cause it has been a bit cold. The kids don't like going out for a walk when its chill... more the girls than Hunter.  My portions have been pretty good, except last night, I was defeated by homemade Mac & Cheese! I'm excited to say my snacking has calmed down. Thanks for all your support!  See you next week.

My new toy!

I'm such a dork, I know! However in my quest for moving more, and losing weight. I bought a Pedometer. I used it yesterday after I got home from the store of course. It keeps track of your steps, and then can convert them into miles for you.
Do you know that on average you should take 10,000 steps a day. Depending on how tall you are, depends on how big your strides would be. Thus then decides how fair you would have walked. For me, taking 10,000 steps would roughly put me at about 4.5 miles. Seems so much, if you were to just go out and walk that 4.5 miles right?
Well just from the half a day I was wearing it yesterday I had a little over 6000 steps. Which was more than I thought, I would. How many steps do you think that you walk a day? Isn't it kinda fun to think about??
I'm going to be challenging myself for the next few weeks. I'll keep you updated with the weekly post about the week. So there is my new toy... :)

Weigh in week #2

Well its been two weeks.... honestly my first week went better. However, I expected that to happen. As with anything, there are going to be ups & downs. I did pretty well this week with excerise, just need to work on getting some aerobics in there.
I am still trying hard to get used to eating in the morning. I ate a few mornings out of this week. This morning I had grapes even, nothing big, but better than nothing. I've tried to keep the snacking to a minimum, and down pretty well with that. I have found skinny cow ice cream snacks, that are pretty good, and awesome for a sweet treat. They are 2pts on the weight watchers program.
My downfall this week was portions... I just felt really hungry this week for some reason. Not sure what was up with that. I am still drinking lots of water. Just got to work harder on the portions.
So with all that being said, I didn't gain any weight this week, but I didn't lose any either. I guess staying the same is the better than nothing right?

My New Years Resolution:

As most of you saw... My new years resolution this year was to lose weight, and yes I know this is really no different than any other year.. However, this year is different to me, cause I really want this, and I want to be in better health for my kids. I am able to do most everything with them, but I am always low on energy, and I don't like that. I miss out on a lot with them, because I can't keep up with them. So to help keep me going, I'm going to post on here once a week, my weigh in, and any issues or thoughts I may have to share that week..

That being said... I started last week, on Thursday (New Year's Day). I'm posting this a day early, cause I want to make it a Wednesday thing... less hectic for me! I am not going to tell you my start weight, but you will notice on my sidebar my target amount of weight I would like to lose, and yes I know it is going to take me a long time!

Week 1 weigh in: I lost 3pds this week. Not bad for my first week. (I think)

My three major struggles are getting more excerise. Finding the time to squeeze it in.. I have started walking most nights, (not all) after Andy gets out of work, which can sometimes be around 11pm. My second biggest struggle is eating breakfast, so that I get my metabolism going! I'm not a breakfast person... so i have been trying to eat a bowl of cereal, or fruit. Still working on that! Of course my third is portion control. I am pretty sure 90% of us struggle with this, because a lot of people don't understand what a portion is....

This week I have been doing pretty good with the eating healthier thing, and a bit better on my portions. I have been having a salad most days for lunch... and eating dinner with the family, but much less than I normal would have. I have been eating a few more snacks during the day cause I am hungry, but healthier ones. Like, fruit, those round popcorn thing's (can't remember their name), skinny cow ice cream treat(which if you want to know are really good, and they have no sugar added as well), or a granola bar, which is organic but good (target brand). :) I'm still picking up tools along the way... I welcome any advice anyone has to offer.

See you next week!
