In my life this week…

We were super busy! More than I would have liked, however the kids were pretty good for most of the week.

We enjoyed our 4th of July with Family…

Visited with my Gram

Went to the Movies two days in a row… (summer programs)

Had play dates, and went to playgrounds

Eat Ice Cream, and a friend slept over!

In our homeschool this week…

We are still on vacation… of course that doesn’t mean we have stopped learning. Love all the things that they pick up!

Still working on our entries for the fair

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

This next week we are going to see another movie, visit with friends, and pack up Middle Monkey for Summer Camp! (her first time, more to come on that)

My favorite thing this week was…

Spending time with my monkey’s they sure do know how to make me laugh!

What’s working/not working for us…

Using our imaginations… we have been pirates, mad scientist and so much more this week!

We also love being able to see a couple movies a week, without spending any money.

What happens when you have snails, worms, and sun?

 

 

Well you get a garden! Or in our case 9 gardens spread around our yard. Yup, we are really ambitious this year!

This morning we went out and weeded one of the gardens, so our squash and cucumber plants would grow better. It was actually a rather nice day to do it, the wind was blowing a nice breeze and it was warm, but not buggy! (which is huge this year.. the bugs are insane)

After weeding the garden, we rewarded the kids with being able to help harvest the first crop of veggies from our garden.

Here is what we got!!!

Which I have to tell you I am super excited about it, cause I have never been able to grow Broccoli, and this year it just took off!!!! It is HUGE!

Then we got a TON of Beet Greens and Swiss Chard…

Which we will be eating tonight with our dinner. Yummy! Can’t wait!

Oh, and the kids found this small amount of Raspberries that they ate as a treat…

1. Do you think cursive writing is overrated? (Schools in Indiana have now voted to take teaching cursive writing out of their curriculum.)

You know I think it is kinda funny you asked this question.. I have been discussing this with a few people lately… As my son is going into 4th grade, and I was thinking I should add that to our curriculum.

I don’t think its overrated… obviously I think that they should learn it to know how to sign something.

I will say though, even since I was a kid, I have never really wrote in cursive. Mine always ended up being more like a mix of handwriting and cursive.

2. Do you still use a pocket calendar or notepad or do you keep your info on your smart phone?

Your going to laugh at this! I use Cozi (so my husband can just check the app on his phone to know my schedule) Then I use Gmail calendar to keep track on my computer and phone… Then I have a paper version on the fridge. Yup, I like to have all my bases covered! Sad, I know!  

3. What 3 things would you save if your house was burning down? (family & pets are already safe)

Pictures first and foremost… and then my laptop! But I think everything else is replaceable. I mean my laptop is obviously replaceable, but my stuff on it isn’t!

4. Country Mouse or City Mouse, err Person?

I really have a internal debate with myself on this one. I really love being in the country… the safety, quiet and such. But part of me really enjoys the city as well.

I’ve decided I think I could stand the city for awhile, and then I would have to come back to the country.

5. If you could pick ANY reality show to go on, which would you pick?

I would have to say absolutely hands down Big Brother! I am such a fan of that show. Not sure I could hack it the whole time, but I would certainly have fun trying!

1. What is the most useful book in your house?

I have lots of useful books, must I only choose one? I will tell you the top 2 in my opinion.  

First I would have to say, a reference book for math, I’m not the best math person, so this helps a lot when I get confused.

Secondly, I would have to say  The Pioneer Woman’s Cookbook! We love a several of her recipes so this comes in mighty handed!

2. What's worse-being too hot or too cold?

I would have to say being to hot, its harder to cool off, then it is to warm up.

3. Share something that made you smile this past weekend.

My babies, when they were giving me hugs and telling me how much fun they had!

4. How do you like your hamburgers? Or don't you?

A good burger has, Mayo, Ketchup, Cheese, the burger, pickle, lettuce, tomato and a few slices of bacon!
5. What's your summer beach read? If it's not summer in your part of the world then tell us what book you're reading in front of the fire while sipping hot cocoa.

Not really sure I have a Favorite summer read.. I’m anxiously awaiting the new Nicholas Sparks book to come out!!!

6. How was your birthday celebrated when you were a kid?

A small birthday party and some cake. Sometimes we had big pool parties with the relatives. My birthday usually got combined with celebrating Memorial Day, cause it falls on or very close to it.

When I got bigger, my mom allowed me to have sleepovers every once and awhile.

7. What's something that is totally uncool that you love anyway?

Hmmm.. according to my kids everything I do is Uncool!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Don’t really have any random thoughts today.. Been super busy, so I haven’t had much time for thoughts.

Happy Fourth of July….

 

 

 

hope everyone had a great day! Our family sure did… It was nice to just relax and not stress about things to get done for the day.

We went to my Brother-in-laws house to watch the local parade… they live right on the street it goes thru. Which made it really nice this year, not to have to stress about getting their early, or worry about it being to hot. They could go inside if they needed, use the bathroom, etc.

The parade was a couple hours long, but the kids had fun! After that, I got them something to eat at Hubby’s store, cause he had to work of course. Then we headed home.

For dinner we had traditional Hot dogs, Burgers, and Macaroni Salad. Yummy!!!

After that, we all went for a dip in the pool to cool off, and headed to bed.

We decided to skip the fireworks, cause we were all tired, and it was 2 hrs round trip to see them.  The kids were ok with that decision to.
