FOR TODAY... Monday February 28th, 2011

Outside my window... It is very cold, and windy… We are suppose to get some nasty weather today, ::Sigh::

I am thinking… This is going to be another really long week.

I am thankful for…..help from my hubby, even though I may have to nag sometimes!

From the learning rooms…..… We are back on track!

Monkey Boy-  is doing great, and enjoying some of our new curriculum

Middle Monkey- is having her days, but doing really good.

Littlest Monkey- is doing fantastic with everything!

From the kitchen…. .Today we are having Fish Sandwiches, and Salad for dinner!

I am creating….    some puppets this week, for a community project for 4-H

I am wearing.. Jeans, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt! (I’m still not warm)

I am going..  to possibly be crazy by next week! Stay tuned for the outcome!

I am hearing…..my kiddo’s having some friendly chatter over breakfast this morning.

I am reading…waiting to get to the library to get some new Debbie MaComber books!

Around the house….  not much.. few loads of laundry to do, and a few loads to fold and put away!

One of my favorite things…  Letting the little things go, and staying in bed for half the day while cuddling and chatting with my little monkey’s!

A few plans for the rest of the week…. trip to the library, Eye Doctor, Dentist, Cub Scouts, Eye Doctor’s again, Co-op, Brownies, A Play, Daisy’s, and 4-H… Phew! I’m exhausted just thinking about it..

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing…

My beautiful girl!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

image

1. Did you know there is a National Day of pretty much everything in the universe? February 23 happens to be National Inconvenience Yourself Day...when was the last time you were inconvenienced?

National Inconvenience Day? That is crazy! I don’t really remember being Inconvenience lately. I guess most of the time I really don’t see it as being inconvenienced unless someone is just being selfish.

2. When a room in your house needs painting who does the job?

Usually me, or both of us… However, I really don’t find myself to be that great at painting. Seems like I do it enough though!

3. Are you friends with your cousins?

Some of them… I don’t really get to see them to often, and it seems the older we get the worse it is to make time for each other. We used to get together often as a big family… but not so much anymore.

4. Do you use an alarm clock? If yes-is it an actual alarm, music, or something else?

Yes, and it is an alarm. I don’t usually have to wait to hear it go off though. If I’m not super tired, my body automatically wakes me up before I need to be up!

5. What do you put ketchup on?

Really only meatloaf or hamburgers. Not a huge ketchup fan. My kids on the other hand use it on everything!

6. What smells make you nostalgic?

Not really sure I have any that I can think of off the top of my head… Maybe Apple pie, cause it reminds me of all the times we spent at my grandmothers house!

7. Have you heard about the high school English teacher recently suspended as a result of some things she wrote in her personal blog?

I might start a lot of controversy with this… but I feel she did nothing wrong. She voiced her opinion in a way that didn’t call anyone or the place out. She was only telling how things really are. Public schools are horrible now… Kids have no respect for their elders, and don’t like to do their work, and expect to just be passed. As long as it didn’t call out anyone, why should it matter? She doesn’t actually say it to these kids face… (and I’m sure they have called her worse to hers)

FOR TODAY... Monday February 21st, 2011

Outside my window... Very cold and windy today! I’m freezing!

I am thinking… I really hope to feel better tomorrow, or it could be a very long week!

I am thankful for…..helpful family that steps up when I’m down.

From the learning rooms…..… We are back on track!

Monkey Boy- so far has loved our new science curriculum!

Middle Monkey-  has started her new Grammar and did awesome and had no arguments this week about it!

Littlest Monkey- is doing fantastic with everything!

From the kitchen…. . Since I wasn’t feeling well, the girls had there favorite pasta, and my mom got me an Italian. Smile

I am creating….    another science project this week, and hopefully some fun with family and friends!

I am wearing.. Jeans, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt! (I’m still not warm)

I am going..  to take it easy this week, since we don’t have a lot of commitments this week. Next week is back to the grind!

I am hearing…..the girls whispering while they fall asleep! (I’m a bit late getting to this today)

I am reading…nothing at the moment… back to waiting for more books to come in.

Around the house….  we did some more rearranging and I am really liking the outcome. Organization is my friend!!

One of my favorite things…  Spending quality time with my family… happy that our new life allows plenty of that!

A few plans for the rest of the week…. trip to the library, Science Fair, Visit with friends and family, 4-H, and a Bake Sale this weekend.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing…

A trip down memory lane…hard to believe that was only 6 months ago! (there first stay in a hotel)

Looking for some extra love??

Not that I am looking for just random followers to have the numbers.. I just don’t know how else to get my blog out there… and since I have found some great blogs through these… every once and awhile I like to add mine to one. So this week, I’m checking out.

Five Question Friday 2/18

image[8]

1. Have you worn the same outfit more than one day in a row?
Outfit no, Jeans..yes. They don’t get to dirty most of the time, so I wear them a second day… since we have a huge amount of laundry to begin with!

2. If you had to choose any LARGE city to live in, which would it be?
I would have to say… Seattle. I have heard it is really nice there, and I think it would be a great experience. But then again, I love to travel!

3. Fly or drive with the kids on vacation?
Well, I’ve done both. We used to fly with them… My son has flown more times than most people. However, I have driven with them a lot lately, and they are pretty darn good.
So, that question would have some factors to it, to decide. If we wanted to get there quicker probably fly. (however, that is VERY expensive for 5 people)
Or if we wanted to stop and see sights along the way. I would have to say we would rather drive. More fun, and opportunities!

4. What is your idea of "spring cleaning"?
Going through all of the rooms, and getting rid of things we no longer  need, or want. Clean from top to bottom, and reorganize. So, it takes me a long time to get it done!

5. What is the best book you have ever read?
Honestly, most of Nicholas Sparks books are the best. I love anything by him, and would read them over and over again!

Volcano’s can be fun….

incase you didn’t know that. In hopes not to bore those of you that don’t have any interest in Home-schooling… I’m going to mention some of our fun stuff, here but will have it linked to my new blog strictly for Home-schooling… Incase you didn’t see my post about it, you can check out my new blog The Monkey School about our adventure in Home-schooling.

Well over the past couple days, we got daring… and made Paper Mache’ Volcano’s. Why you ask? Well we needed them for Co-op class… (which we missed last week due to Hunter being sick)

Here are a few pictures of our fun, but you can also check out more about our fun here and here. Be sure to stay tuned for the eruption in a couple weeks!

Little Monkey turns 6!!!

100_3099

6 wow!!

Where can the time have gone?? I mean, holy moly!

I remember the day she was born like yesterday… A tiny little monkey laid in my arms.

She hasn’t gotten much bigger and she still loves to cuddle.

Here are a few things about my newly 6 yr old!

  • Has her first two loose teeth!
  • Loves to run, dance, and twirl
  • Would wear a dress everyday if I let her!
  • Enjoys learning new things.. (great at math)
  • Loves the color pink
  • Loves puzzles
  • Thinks its cool to be the littlest in our family

She is a pure joy to have in my life!!! I would be lost without her… (even her whining hahaha)

I’m so very proud of you Little Monkey!! We love you!

Disney on Ice Princess

Thanks to a wonderful friend, we had the oppurtunity to go see the Disney on Ice Princess show this past weekend.

I didn’t tell the girl’s about it at all, cause as I’m sure you know they bug you with questions all day long. How much longer? When are we leaving? Are we there yet? When will we see them?? Etc…

I told them that I had a surprise for them, to get nice clothes on and get ready to leave. Got them in the car, and told them we had one stop to pick someone up, and then we would be on our way. Normally that wouldn’t be good enough for my 7 yr old Middle Monkey, but she was excellent about it. After picking up a friend and her daughter, we headed off to the big city in this state!

Upon arriving I then informed them of what we were going to see. Excited where they excited! They had been wanting to see this show really bad. With big smiles on their face, we entered the building and found our seats.

(best picture of all 3 of us, I could get)

100_2821

The show was great! Just as I remembered it from 3 yrs ago! I just wish they would alternate shows here in our small state. The girls had fun though, and that is all that matters. Little Monkey went crazy when Mickey Mouse came out on the ice. You would have thought we had never seen him (or lived near Disney for the last 2 yrs)

All and all it was a fabulous show, with great friends, and the girls had a wonderful time!

Little Monkey’s Birthday Party

It’s not quite her birthday yet… but we decided to have her birthday party this weekend. Hard to have any big parties in the middle of the week.

You know you really wouldn’t think that it would be hard to come up with ideas for a birthday party for little kids. But can I just tell you its not as easy anymore!

I had specific orders though.. it had to have a Rapunzel theme! Due to the new movie “Tangled” coming out. Can I just tell you that was no easy task. It took me a few weeks, to find a cake, but we did it!!

100_3023

We had her party at a local YMCA… they had a bounce room with bounce houses, and obstacle courses. Needless to say the kids had tons of fun!

Enjoyed our pizza, cake, and of course presents!

So hard to believe another year has gone by!

A little Valentine’s Fun

despite the day’s agenda… Normally my hubby doesn’t have Valentine’s day off. This year he did get it off. However, we had a whole day full of stuff to do. (always the way right)

We are not big on giving our kids candy, so it has kinda become our own family tradition to all go to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Besides what better way to show love, than spend the day together right??

Our day started off with a Dentist appt for the girls. I know, I was just there…but they had to go back to get sealants on their back teeth. That was a job and a half to convince Little Monkey to cooperate!

After that we had a small lunch, and went to the local Goodwill, and a salvage store. I managed to score a couple good deals even. I got some Classic Readers for school at the local Goodwill, hard cover even for 50 cents. Then at the salvage store I got a couple boxes of cards for verbs and capitalization to make sentences!

Being that it was a Monday, my son had Cub Scouts. What better way to celebrate than have a Valentine’s bowling party right?? So, that is what they did. The girls even got to join in on the fun.

100_3029

To end our fantastic day, we headed over to a local restaurant in town. Where we had dinner… May I just say a fabulous dinner of Scallops and Lobster! Yum! Complete with dessert of Chocolate Covered Strawberries! It was the perfect ending to the day!

What did you do?

Some winter time fun….

I’m not a huge fan of the cold. So wanting to go out in the winter time is not my idea of fun!

Well, I finally got my new boots… and some friends of ours invited us up to go sledding with them. Of course my kids were excited, and so we took them up on their offer.

After everyone got all dressed up in ski pants, boots, hats, mittens, and the whole nine yards. We headed up in the woods even further!

I must say we had the best time! It was such a blast. The trail we went on was amazing, and we flew! Only bad part was it was anywhere from 1/4 of a mile, to a 1/2 mile walk back up the trail! Oh my gosh, did my legs kill after that.

Here are a few pictures, of our day in the snow!

Five Question Friday

image

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear?

Would absolutely be Extreme Home Makeover… I love Ty Pennington for one.. Two I think that they are so amazing, and caring. Plus who wouldn’t want one of the houses they build? GOREGOUS!

2. Do you have any tattoos?

Nope no tattoo’s. Never been a fan of needles, so I really have no desire to get one. Not to mention I would be afraid of what it would look like in 50 years! LOL!

3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?

I have told my kids a few stories…but I try to keep the bad things to myself. However, I really have this thing about always saying to my husband. I’m sure you remember doing that as a kid, in my front of my kids. Opps!

4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?

Really depends on the situation…but normally I stop. In bad weather, if I don’t have enough time to stop, I will go through it. Or if I’m really close to the light when it is yellow I will continue through it. Hate slamming on my brakes! Makes things fly!

5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips?

I’m really more of a chip person. I love the BBQ, and plain chips with Ranch dip!

Not really a big chocolate person.. I like it, but not in big quantities.

I figured it out!!!

Was totally going to try and work on it this weekend..but it sucked me in! As I was sitting here watching “The Last Song” and crying my eyes out. I finally figured out how to add my tabs. So excited!!! I put up a few of the ones I have been wanting to do and their will be more to come! Hope you enjoy!

Have a great Friday night… think I will go watch one more movie on Netflix, before calling it a night!

Work in progress…..

So ignore the buttons at the top of my blog.. I’m really trying hard to figure out some HTML, and learn how to tweak a few things. Been wanting to do them for awhile. Hang in there with me, and we will get it eventually! In the mean time, I’m going to give myself a crash course on it. Wish me luck!

A trip to the dentist..

it was that time again… My monkey’s had to take a trip to the dentist. Which to most would not be a big deal. However, for my littlest monkey any doctor means a onset of fear and melt downs.

Not sure why…but she seems to think that they are all so very, very scary. We talked about everything that was going to happen at the dentist, and what she could expect. I was hoping this would put her in the right mindset.

It was both girls going this time, and so Middle Monkey being the brave one this time… headed in all by herself this time. No questions asked, just went in and had everything done. I was super proud of her!

IMG00057-20110208-1155

Then it was Little Monkey’s turn. She headed in and looked back to make sure I was following. She was super brave and had her x-ray’s done… and then sat in the chair, and got all big on me. I couldn’t have asked for a braver girl.. she sat there and let them clean her teeth, and did her fluoride! Super big girl!!! She is growing up to fast on me…

Blue & Gold 2011

Any of you who have been following my blog for any length of time… as probably seen my posts, regarding my Monkey man and his Cub Scout adventures.

He is very active in Cub Scouts, and we love that he is so involved. As we feel it has a great impact and such a positive one on his life.

100_2749

This year he has been working to achieve his “Bear” rank. He has worked very hard, and done very well to do this. Today he was awarded his “Bear rank” badge. As well as some beads, and a special one for doing a sleepover last month.

We are very proud of him and super excited for him. Next up is the Pinewood Derby!

FOR TODAY... Monday February 7th, 2011

Outside my window...  It was absolutely gorgeous yesterday…I am hoping that today my be similar. One can hope right?
I am thinking… This has been a very emotional week for me… and I’m rather exhausted by it. So I am hoping for a better week.
I am thankful for…..  freedom.

From the learning rooms…..…  We have been very lax this past week… However, its back to business this week!
Monkey Boy-  Is struggle a bit with my request to do some writing…but we are getting there. He is doing really good with his Division so far though.
Middle Monkey-  is doing great with her spelling as always, math is going great. She has mastered two digit subtraction and addition with no regrouping. Struggle a bit with her on reading … she won’t try anything challenging.
Littlest Monkey-  is surprising me with her reading.. She is progressing nicely. She is doing really well with basic addition and subtraction.
We are really getting into a groove now, and we are doing great!
From the kitchen…. . Having a hard time deciding that. You??

I am creating….     Nothing at the moment.

I am wearing.. Jeans, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt! (I’m still not warm)

I am going..  be very busy for a few more weeks, I think. Got lots coming up.

I am hearing…..Nothing much this morning, pretty quiet around here.

I am reading… Still reading the Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult

Around the house….  Not much, did all my laundry this weekend, and the dishes is done. Yay!

One of my favorite things…    Enjoying lazy days with my kids

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Cub Scouts, Dentist Appt , Girl Scouts, Library  and 4-H.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing…
