This week is the letter “L”

1.  Lasagna: I love lasagna…it is by far one of my all time favorite pasta dishes. YUM! Now I need to make one!

2. Ladder: Never been a superstitious person…but I’m not a huge fan of heights, so I try to stay off them. Are you superstitious?

3. Ladybug: I think they are cute little bugs, but I hate when they start to invade your house!

4. Lego’s: My children love Lego’s. I used to play with them a bit when I was a child…I enjoyed building houses. My son is so creative with them, and my daughters like to make houses and cars. We have pink girly ones for them. Hunter has numerous sets from Christmas, and he is always creating something cool. I enjoy taking pictures of his creations, so we can look back at them. What was one of your favorite toys as a child?

5. Lazy: I like to be lazy once in awhile, but I can’t not stand people who are so lazy they are incapable of doing everyday chores. I try to teach my children that there is a time for laziness, and a time to work.

6. Lakes: I like lakes… I miss Embden lake, it has so many fond memories for me. My Grandmother has a house on it..and to me their was nothing better than getting up in the morning and looking out a the lake, with the loons on it, or the quietness of it.

7. Llama's: Isn’t that an interesting name? I often wander how people came up with names for these animals. Did they just look like a llama? They are neat creatures, but beware they like to spit like camels!

8. Lamb: I really would like to try to eat some  lamb. I have heard it is very good, but every time I think about it… all I can see is Mary and her little lamb white as snow! Anyone else have this problem??? Have you tried lamb?

9. Lampshade: I have always wanted to try to make my own prints on a lampshade. Like they do on those DIY shows on HGTV… I think they come out so nice, and what a nice personal touch to make in your home.

10. Landfills: I am deeply disappointed in Landfills. I think it is ridiculous how much trash we as a society make. It amazes me more how many people, and towns do not recycle. It has been a big adjustment for us here in Florida. They do not recycle plastic’s, cans, or paper in our town. I think it is sad that it is not something we as a whole do in our world. We still try to recycle in our own way, but reusing things that we can, to reduce the amount of trash we have. Does your town recycle, or do you try to reuse your waste?

11. Landmarks: Do you really know how many landmarks their are in the United States alone, with some specific meaning? I was shocked to see how much there is in our state to explore, that we never knew about. I love sharing in the learning of things with my kids. We love to explore the things that happen near us, or in our area. What about you?

12. Learning: You know I was never big in school about learning. I always struggled and got frustrated with school. I excelled at one or two subjects, but nothing to really excited me to do better. Since having children of my own, I have found a new love for learning. My children attend regular school, even though Homeschooling is always on the back burner as a possibility. But that does not mean that we do not as parents teach our kids things at home. I do just as much teaching at home as my kids learn in school. I have found a new excitement to learn again. Watching the amazement in my kids faces when they learn something for the first time, or learn about something they are fascinated with, it is amazing. I love it, and it makes me want to learn. Each week Hunter and I pick out something new to learn about… and thru the week, we read about it on the internet, in books, or find hands on learning. It is truly the greatest feeling in the world to teach my child, and learn new things with them!

13. Lima Beans: Is about the only vegetable I will not touch! I find them to be disgusting! What vegetable to do you dislike the most??

Well there you have this weeks letter…. Stay tuned for next week the letter “M”

Fun on daddy’s day off………

yup, that is what we had on Sunday! I don’t have any way cool pictures to show you…but I wanted to share our nice family day. We started the day out with Banana Chocolate Chip pancakes! Then we had a fun game of Mario party 4 on the Wii. Nothing like a good challenge in the morning! Then daddy and Hunter played with Lego’s for a bit, while the girls played outside. After a relaxing afternoon, we cooked some dinner. BBQ chicken, mashed potato’s, summer squash and corn. After dinner the we all curled up and watched Bolt! Very cute movie by the way, if you have a chance to see it. Then off to bed the kids went…. and I cuddled up in bed to watch a nice movie of my own. :) It was nice to spend a nice quiet fun family day. Since daddy doesn’t get a day off very often on the weekend with us. Back to the real world tomorrow…….

Spring time Hockey

Tampa Bay Lighting Vs Altanta Thrashers

….in the air! Saturday night we headed to Tampa, for the Hockey game. Cub Scouts spring hockey game. Due to scheduling issues, Andy could not go with us. Hunter was a bit bummed, but Nana came to the rescue and was able to attend the game with us.

To start off our pregame excitement, Hunter got the coolest lighting bolts painted on his face! He was all spirited up! :)

His gold lighting bolt

His sliver Lighting bolt

Isn’t he just adorable! He was very excited to attend another game. He was ready to hoot and holler! We had a great time, and the game was gripping. They actually scored 3 goals this time. We tied, and had to go into overtime, were in the end they got the last point. It was fun though! Lets go Bolts!

6. Kisses: Nothing better than my little smooches from my kiddo’s! They make my day all the better.

7. Kids: I have 3 wonderful ones. Growing up I always wanted 12. I wanted to have 6 that were my own biologically, and then adopt 6. I’ve always been big on the fact that their are to many kids out there, with no families. It breaks my heart!

8. Kettle corn: I’m probably one of the only people, that doesn’t like kettle popcorn. I don’t care for it at all! Is that weird?

9. Kangaroo: Is a fascinating animal! I wish, I could meet one up close and personal. Can you imagine having to carry your baby around in your pouch till it got big???

Ballas Hough Band:

BHB_cover_01_29_09

I got asked to do my first review. I received my Cd of the Ballas Hough Band in the mail on Wednesday March 11th. If you are a viewer of Dancing with the Stars on ABC, you may recognize the singers. Mark Ballas won season 6 with Kristi Yamaguchi, and Derek Hough took season 7 with Brooke Burke. This year they are back to rock the stage with their new partners. Mark is dancing with Shawn Johnson an Olympic Gold Medalist, and Derek is dancing with Lil Kim a multi platinum artist. The season Premiere of Dancing with the Stars was March 10, 2009 at 8pm on ABC. Both came in with the two of the top scores. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds!

DWS8_Title_lyrd

This band was formed in London, England. Their band members include…Mark Ballas, Derek Hough, Sam Marder, Harry Sullivan, and Emily Grace. After playing in London for awhile, they moved to the Us in 2008 to sign a record deal with Hollywood Records.

As soon as I received the Cd, I popped it in my Cd player in the car. The girls and I jammed to it! My Dh thought it sounded really good. It reminded us of someone, but we couldn’t put our finger on who. One of my favorite songs was “Devastated”. I love the tune of all the songs. It is a wonderful cd to listen to when you want to unwind. Go get your copy today!

The shuttle discovery:

I thought I would just pop up a couple pictures of the Shuttle Discovery taking off. It went up Sunday Night March 15, 2009 at 7:43 pm.This was from our home, I hope that one day we are able to maybe go to NASA and see one take off up close and personal. My son was excited to watch and learn all about it. He was going back and forth from outside to the living room, to hear what they were saying on the news about it. I’m thrilled to have a son that is so excited to learn. We have so much fun with it most of the time!

Isn't that pretty!

There it goes!

If you look to the side, you can see the rocket falling and the rest is the shuttle trail!

In this one if you look really close, to the left of the trail, there is a small white dot, that is the first rocket dropping off and coming down.

It was an amazing experience to have with my children. They were very fascinated by it, and can’t wait until we can see more. Its breath taking, and beautiful to watch! We are awaiting the return in 13 days, and hoping they land back here, instead of Texas.

First Game of the Season…

Hunter had his first official game of the season. It was rather different as we had an umpire and everything! Hunter wasn’t able to hit the ball, as he is not used to the weight of an official baseball bat. He tried so hard though, and was upset that he didn’t get to hit the ball. However, I was so proud of some moves he made. He stopped two balls, and almost got one kid out. We still need to work on the throw the ball as soon as you get it! He is getting much better and doing a great job though. Here a few shots I was able to get. He played 2nd base for most of the game. That made him so happy!

Awesome Player!

Look at that little guy... trying hard to hit the ball!

Made some awesome plays!

Hunter is the one to the left of the guy in the blue shirt…

Getting ready for spring:

Well being in Florida there is no lack of heat in the spring/summer. So, we decided it was time to shave off Hunter’s hair again! (ok, and because he is having his school  pictures done next week) His hair is the thickest, most unmanageable hair I have ever dealt with. (including my own!!!) He has this nasty cow lick, we can’t seem to get rid of, and you can style it. Here is a before shot:

Shaggy head

Look at that fuzz they call hair! We decided to go a bit shorter this time around, cause his hair grows so fast, and it is progressively getting hotter outside. Here is the after shot:

Much better

So much better don’t you think??? He likes it cause he says its easier to wash now, and dry! :) Silly boy! He agrees it is much cooler now.

Thursday Thirteen:

Brought to you this week by the letter “J”

1. Jamboree: This past weekend was the opening day jamboree for little league. It was a beautiful day!

2. Juggle: Sometimes I think I should be a professional Juggler, with the many things I try to do at once. Have you ever tried, talking on the phone, cooking dinner, folding laundry, and give a spelling test?

3. Juice: I’m not a huge juice fan. I will drink apple or orange every once and awhile for breakfast. My kids love it, but are only allowed one glass a day. What a mean mommy I am right?

4. Junk: No matter how much I try, I have way to much of this in my house (at the moment my only space, my room). My kids think we need to save EVERYTHING! I like to throw most things away. I only save Magazines, containers, and anything that could be used for art, or learning. Is their really a solution for Junk??

5. Jelly: I’m really not a fan of this stick stuff. My kids could eat it all the time. Matter of fact, the girls prefer just a jelly sandwich most days. They love apple and strawberry the best.

6. Jealous: I often find that my kids are jealous of each other. They feel they need to compete to see who is better than the other, and so on. I am really frustrated with this, because in no way have I ever tried to make them feel like one is better than the other. I love them all just the way they are. We continue to work on this daily.

7. Jasmine: It is a pretty name, but a beautiful flower!

8. Jack-O-lantern: I love decorating them with my kids. The creativity is amazing, and we have such a good time. Its things like this that we do together that make those special lifetime memories.

9.  Jabber: Yup, if any of you know me at all, you know I love to talk! I will talk to random strangers. I have been this way most of my life. It may come from being an only child, and not having anyone to talk to most of the time…or maybe it is just me. Either way, my middle daughter has caught the Jabber bug too!

10. Jamaica: This is one place I think I might want to visit one day. Then again, who doesn’t want to visit a tropical island? Right?

11. January: Not really one of my favorite months…. could be cause I’m always catching up from Christmas, and its cold…

12. Japan: Now, I would diffidently love to go here someday. I love exploring new cultures… its so interesting to see how different people live from us. Don’t you think?

13. Jeans: I love wearing them. I have never been a dress girl… or even dressy… I would rather just throw on a pair of jeans any day. It might have something to do with the fact that I don’t think I am pretty enough to dress up. Another one of those issues, I need to work on. Personal growth, not easy is it?

Well there you have this weeks letter “J”

Stay tuned next week for the letter “K”

Little League opening day!

Saturday was Opening Day for our Little League…. they had a big event schedule for this. We arrived at 8am, oh so early for a Saturday morning! To have our team pictures done. I’m very excited, i think they are going to come out great. From there we hung around, and waited for Opening Ceremonies to begin. They lined up all the teams, I believe we have somewhere around 30 teams this year playing from T-ball to Majors. They then introduced all coaches, team moms, and players. Plus the board members and the Mayor. Our Mayor threw the opening ball, and it was official.

We had about an hour and half down time where we had brought a picnic lunch to eat. The kids love any kind of picnic, all they have to do is here the word! After our lunch we went to watch Hunter play their one inning game. To give the kids a taste of what was to come. He was so excited to be all in his uniform, and out there on the field. He however, quickly got bummed, cause this year we have to use regulation baseball bats. They are a bit longer and heavier than the T-ball bat. Therefore, he was not able to hit the ball his turn up. He tipped it, but did not make it out on the field. Being emotional this was hard for him to take, but we just told him we would work on it at home with his new bat. So, cross your fingers we can hit one at our next game. I think he is doing awesome for having to use a new bat, and being pitched to by machine with balls going 42 MPH. He isn’t scared of it though! Our first game is Friday!

Here is his team for this year:

Life has been crazy…….

I’m sorry for the lack of posts lately. I’m trying to get back on track. I have been busy, with doctor appts, baseball, cub scouts, and general life. We have been pretty busy these last couple weeks, settling into our new spring routine. I’m slowly getting more organized…but do you ever feel like it doesn’t matter how much you organize, your life is still scattered? That has been me lately. Never enough time in the day is there?

Fun with friends:

A friend of mine who I’ve known since Middle School lives down here. She actually lives only 20 minutes from me. For the purposes of my post, I’m going to call her “J”.

“J” works for Disney as a photographer, so she was kind enough to get me, Andy and the girls in to the Magic Kingdom. We had a wonderful day, and it was nice to catch up with “J”. I’m hoping we get to see each other a bit more often. I’m not going to give you a big long post, cause we have already blogged about the Magic Kingdom, so I’m just going to give you a couple highlights, and a few pictures!

The girls love for the day, were seeing the Fairies, and Princesses. We saw a few other characters that we have yet to have their picture taken with, or book signed. We rode some rides, which the girls liked and hated. They both loved the Barn Stormer, which was like a mini roller coaster. I thought Sage would be scared but she laughed.  Rachel’s favorite was the Aladdin’s carpet ride. They didn’t really care for the Snow White ride, cause they thought it was scary. It was dark…so we think that is why it scared them.

All and all we had a great time, and enjoyed our time with “J”. The girls hope to see her again soon.

Saying Hi

Monday Morning:

1. What is something that you forgot once, but will never forget again? What happened when you forgot it? I really can’t think of something that I forgot that was major.

2. How do you handle hateful comments or emails? How do you handle someone who annoys you in real life? I completely ignore hateful comments and emails. There is no need for immaturity like that.

As for in real life…. I usually tell people what I think. If they don’t like it, well don’t talk to me! High School was over long ago!

3. How often do you change the furniture around in your living room area? At the moment we are not living in at our own house… but when we were I changed it around ever 4 months or so. I get bored easily!

How often do you rearrange other rooms in your house? I usually change my kids bedrooms and mine around ever 6 months.

Tell us about the last time you rearranged a room - were you by yourself? Did you have help? Was it a pleasant experience or did sparks fly? Were you satisfied with the end result? No I don’t ever try to move things alone. Usually it is an ok experience…. and I’m usually ok with the end result.

4. Is it better to never be married, or married badly and divorced? Why? I’m not sure on this one. I have many theories. I don’t think you can forget love, so to have loved someone is an experience. From every experience you learn something right? What you learn is what makes you the person you are today…. So, I guess it depends on your definition of badly? I don’t want to go into this to far, so I will leave it at that!
